Tokiko Illuminas....Anyone have them?
Good Evening boys, or whatever the case may be. Who has the Illuminas? Do you like them? Are they worth the $650.for the kit from custommaxima.com? And did they lower your car nicely? Just wondering, before I go and spend all that $$$$. Or if there is a kit or combo comparable to the Illuminas that's less $$.
Thankyou for any suggestions.

Dont buy them from custommaxima, get them from ebay. They are like $435 shipped I think. Shocks wont lower your car, lowering springs will. If you want a low drop then get them with sprint springs (What i have) or you can have less of a drop with eibach or h&r springs. Depends on what you want...looks or comfort

Finally, I've been wanting to use this new smiley so here goes: In your sig it should be controversy, not contraversy. Sorry to use it on you because you're one of the good ones here, but like I said I've been wanting to use it .

yeah the advertised drop on the tokicos is 1.5/1.3 but it settles to the 7/5

I've got Illuminas paired with Eibach Pro-Kits and I love the combo. The shocks are super, and match very well with the stiff springs even softening the ride quite a bit if you want it that way.
I find the adjustability of the Illuminas a real plus, as you can set them fully stiff (no squat at the track) or really soft (stock like ride), and they can be set very easily in about a minute with only a small flathead screwdriver.
Another thing I've found is that they do fairly well in cold weather too. Better than AGX I've heard. It's the middle of winter up here so I've got mine set on 3 out of 5 (medium) and the ride is soft enough even in freezing conditions.
Definitely recommend the Illuminas!

where ever you get your toks, make sure they'll honor the lifetime warranty. I dunno if ebay sellers do.
I'm glad I did. Bought from Stillen, and already had 1 blow. Another one is starting to give out too. They're not what they're hyped to be.
Adjustability, the fronts are easy. The rear, you gotta pull back the trunk liner a lil to adjust (top of strut). i find the AGX rears easier to adjust, if you're willing to get your forearm dirty.

Hey, I just checked out southwestautoworks.com and they have the Illuminas for $500. And what do I get for good lowering springs. Are the Tein s-Techs good for $179.? Or what spring gives a good drop?
Thanks
Thanks

I bought Illuminas and H&R Springs for $590 cash($400 Tokicos $190 H&R), at JDM Motorsports in Los Angeles. The guys were very friendly and obtained the product within 24 hours.
Installation took a bit of time, as my compressor was down for the count. Recommendation: Rent or spend the money for a good spring compressor. I used the Taiwan Tools $12 special, with much anxiety and extreme caution while doing the job. If THAT particular tool fails, you're as good as dead or severly injured if hit square by a flying spring, I promise.
It could be your life, so don't be cheap!
As for the ride... at first, it was kind of rough, but after 2 weeks of settling, they smoothed out beautifully. Without having tried other setups, I'd guess the H&R's are as close to the stock ride as you'll get in a shortened spring.
The adjustment flexibility on the Illuminas are unbeatable and are obviously a very high quality strut. In terms of handling, what an improvement! My racer days are indeed over, however do enjoy throwing the big car around now and then, and this combo is a night and day difference when compared to stock.

i went with H&R springs but Eibach is also good. I chose H&R because i didnt want to lower my ride too much, just enough to take away those gaps. You have to decide how much of a drop you want then choose for the springs. But definetly get the tokicos illuminas.
