CrankShaft pulley question (with picture)

I changed my belts and noticed my crankshaft pulley was cracked. Shall I be concerned? Or is this normal?

Although it doesnt LOOK bad...I'd recommend replacing ASAP. If that breaks while driving...I can only imagine what it would do.

As far is breaking off.. I dont know but it would be a great chance for you to get an UDP

Is the CRANK pulley cracked or is the PAINT cracked?

Scratch it with a nail and you'll find the answer

If the PULLEY is cracked, CHANGE IT ASAP

It's the rubber isolator that's cracked. Pretty normal and not catastrophic.

That's the elastomer ring that binds the outer pulley to the inner pulley and most importantly it is a harmonic crank damper. Those cracks aren't anything to worry about. The belt isn't that bad either. You need to start worrying about belts when they're frayed and/or the ribs are breaking off.

I searched and found only 1 person who's outter pulley completely came off (engine spun separately from pulleys). But hearing that it's pretty normal buys me more time to take TopElement's and Ant96GLE's suggestion of upgrading to UDP.

No worries, I took the pic before changing the belts, in case something goes wrong I can refer to the pics (well, basic operation, nothing went wrong and it was pretty quick to change the belts). Thanx to Frank @ Superior Nissan for the hookup on belts!

Next time I change my oil I'll scratch it and report back. Pic was taken with Canon S300 at 1600x1200, then reduced to 640x480 and compressed jpg with PhotoShop CS. Y? Is it that bad?

Jae
