Mysterious Connector in Driver's Side Door
I'm new to the forum and am in the midst of trying to fix my factory keyless. So far, I've learned about my 1999.5 SE-L (from a Nissan factory tech at Team Nissan Atlanta) that: 1. My hood-shut sensor is missing. 2. My car has keyless entry/alarm, they just can't program it because the alarm will not activate, even after installing the hood sensor (security light never stops blinking). The tech is going to look at the car more in depth later, I just haven't had time to drop it off. However, while digging around behind the driver's side door panel, I found a plug:
My question is: Does anyone know the purpose or has ever seen a white connector, with a purple/yellow and black wire leading from it, just sitting there taped up, doing nothing and apparently never plugged into anything from the factory? Am I missing something in there (I HATE that feeling)? Any insight would be awesome. Thanks! |

sunten1 has a point. Do you have the bose system? If you don't have the bose than I would assume that's what it would be. The only thing off the top of my head that goes through the doors are the windows, locks, speakers, and the door light in the corner. According to other peoples comments the stock alarm is crap so I hope you aren't spending money trying to fix it. If you can take off the door panel and find stray connectors you can put in an aftermarket alarm.

let me know how the fix your security, my security lights keeps blinking my security system is never activated either by locking inside the car or by the keyless pad.

Sorry about that...
Sorry about the lack of pics... not only new to maxima.org, but also forums in general (no comments please :hmmph: )
Anyway, pics of driver's side door & connector (yes, i have Bose system) Thanks for ideas! http://home.comcast.net/~bej1290/photo/driverdoor.jpg http://home.comcast.net/~bej1290/pho...rconnector.jpg |

How about the trunk popper button? :gotme:

Lock cylinder
Also, any ideas on how to get to the key lock cylinder behind that big chunk of door metal? I was going to try to replace it because sometimes, when using stupid key with chip in it, it unlocks all doors, sometimes it unlocks only driver's door, and sometimes it sends the whole door lock systsem into a crazy but entertaining unlock/lock/unlock/lock/unlock/lock dance. Crazy car; I just got this thing a couple months ago, and the guy never gave me a remote. Maybe I should stop and leave well enough alone... other than that I love this Maxima. I used to drive a 1993 Infiniti J30, and it was more fluffy and luxury, but this SE-L puts it to shame in the performance category.
And I am considering an aftermarket alarm if this stuff doesn't work out or ends up costing me $$$. |

So are you sure your car came with the S&C package in the first place? My '99 SE-L didn't.
No alarm/no hood shut sensor...no trunk popper...no keyless entry. And yes, I also have the blinking security light. |
Oh, my trunk popper is in the door. I pull the release for the gas door on the floor. Nothing else is down there.
While we are on the subject of mysterious connectors, I found one on my rear deck on the left side of the car. It's right behind the seat. HAHA |

according to the wiring diagram it says theres a purple/yellow wire for the trunk lamp switch so I would assume your right that its the trunk pop.
|
I'll agree with trunk pop. I remember reading a DEI TechSheet that says to remote-pop the trunk, tap the purple wire in the door or low on the kick panel.

Do you have keyless entry? I'm thinking that the connector may be an electronic trunk release option (such as on the old J30 i had), as opposed to the mechanical trunk release I have. |
