I was wondering if the rears have to be taken off the car to be adjusted? I was told they had to be fully compressed and then turned to adjust them, and I assumed that this would involve removing them from the car. Is it possible to adjust them while still on the car with an allen wrench?

Koni adjustment

It's been awhile since I changed my setting, but you can probably do it from the wheelwell by just undoing the bottom part, not a full removal.

Don't think you'll be able to compress the Spring and get past the bump stops... LOL!

Hey OriginalMadMax

Where do you auto-x? Do you know Barry in the Fresno chapter? He's running with the same car# as you.

Re: Hey OriginalMadMax

I autocross in SF region with Barry Chafin, though he might get to events down in Fresno. I co-drove his car the second half of last season. He runs #40, so he let me use his co-driver numbers on my car when I ran it, and then when I ran his. I was in rookie 4, which meant my street mod car was up against street touring at a heavier handicap, and several times I ran faster times but placed much lower than other cars. By driving Barry's ST car, I had a shot at catching the Imprezza that won the class (it came down to the last 2 events). I think my car was a hair faster, but not enough to make up the handcap. I'm not running this year, because 1) I started grad school, and time/money are tight, and 2) I thought I would have to run against S4's and M3's in the reconfigured Street Mod class. Last year I would have placed no lower than 3rd in Street Mod by the times my competition was running. This new alignment would have killed me, except I understand there is a new street mod/street tire class that would have fit my car pretty well. Point being, the Maxima isn't in the S4/M3 class.

Ah, yeah ... so how close can you get to his times? Can't do much for sibling rivalry. If my bro had an S4, I'd want to co-drive!

My best time of the day was a 78.1 something and his best time was like 74 something. He was really complaining on how his car was handling like a boat, which is pretty much true when I drove his car around on the streets. I was stupid and left my box in for the runs. :) It was my first time auto-x in the Maxima (used to do it in an older Eclipse GSX). It's a lot of fun, but I don't think I'll ever be able to turn out some competitive times.
