question for brake guru's about the rear caliper and how to remount it
I'm in the rear changing my brakes. I changed the right rear side already, where I had to screw in the caliper's cylinder thingy towards me when pointing it upward. Now I'm on the other side (left rear) and I don't know which way I should be screwing in the caliper's cylinder thingy when pointing upward. Towards or away from me?
 Please let me know. Thanks. |
If your talking about the piston it should be clockwise.

thanks. I'm trying to screw it in and can't. Any tools out there that would make this easy?

needle nose pliers??

I would try and find a tool to screw it back in if I could. Try Autozone or a similiar store. I used needle nosed pliers and just about killed my hands. I was having problems keeping the pliers at the right width (they kept slipping off for various reasons). I ended up putting one of the bolts against the plier's axis on the side towards my hand. Then when I clamped them down the bolt held the pliers at the perfect position apart to best turn the piston. Hope that made sense - its hard to describe but it really helped me when I put new pads on a couple weeks ago.

Your caliper might be seized, making it damn hard to turn in. How does the boot look? Oh, yeah...and autozone sells the tool. It goes on a 3/8" ratchet. |
