Smoked Cefiro's installed

Install was easier than anticipated. The mounting tabs broke off in shipping and they are supposed to be used to secure the outer part of the light. (Hard to understand if you have never installed them, but I will post some more pics of my mounting system as well.) However, I was able to use the mounting post with some plumbers tape to get it more secure than you could ever dream of. Also used a nut and bolt to secure the grille too. I'll have hopefully a revised set of how-to instructions in the near future.

These two pics are HUGE and show the real detail of the gap - a true concern of potential buyers. Basically what you're seeing is weather stripping on the car itself, a second layer on the light and the light itself has some standard weather stripping that you can see on the lower portion of the corner:

(IE will shrink these down by default ... expand them because they're 1200+ pixels wide)

Here are some pics of the car:

They still need to be aimed, but other than that, they are AWESOME!

i dont know much about the lights. but your car looks VERY NICE. i wish my paint was that shiney. That color makes my rosewood look horrible.
and the lights compliment it all

Big_Ham Feb 12, 2005 08:28 PM

Rishi ... you definitely need a new digicam! LOL! Anyway ... sorry I didn't call you, I was on my way home from a friends house and trolled through the back of my neighborhood and found a spot for a nice little 15 minute photo session. We'll have to get together and get pics at Lake Park one weekend.

To everyone else, thanks so much for the compliments! These lights absolutely amazed me when I put them on. My wife even noticed and complimented the look. Now she wants new headlights for her '01 :naughty: Might have to get her the 5.5 gen lights next ...

Big_Ham Feb 13, 2005 10:20 AM

Man ... I HATE that drive to and from Orlando, but I'm still considering it. When is it again? My parents are in town the last weekend of Feb ...

A Flood99 Feb 13, 2005 03:52 PM

hey i was wondering if you used a dremel to cut out the corner light support?

and also what was the brand/type of weather stripping you used and where you found it?

b/c i have some cefiros on the way and was just going to use my dremel but didn't have a clue on what weather stripping to use

4x4Max Feb 13, 2005 04:05 PM

Yes, I used a dremel-clone. Not generic, but Black and Decker. Rishi says he used a generic dremel off eBay and it didn't have the torque/rpm to spin the cutting disc. He was breaking discs. Mine went through like butter at 6000 RPM.

Weather stripping Rishi says he got at Home Depot. It was very thick and wide. Easy to work with. My suggestion would be to buy two different types. The gap you're trying to fill is pretty significant, so get some that is VERY thick and some that is moderately thick. Put one on the fender and one on the light. Test fit, cut, test fit, cut, etc. The more you play with it (have patience) the better your result will be.

Also, you will see on the page I linked earlier with all the pics ... the pics at the end show how the light was secured ... and not with the mounting tabs on the top of the lights. I unscrewed the male pop-connector (for lack of a better term) ... it looks like a larger version of what holds our corner lights in. I then screwed it back in connecting a piece of plumbers tape. Secure the other end AS TIGHT AS YOU CAN to a bolt of your choice that has the leverage to hold the light in. When you think you've got the right hole lined up and it was pretty easy to line it up ... go one more hole on the plumbers tape. This will prevent loose/jiggling headlights when driving.

The mounting tab may be a great mount also, but it seems to me that if it can break in shipment and the items were packed pretty well, that I would rather not use it as my only point of outer support.

Well ... the 26th is when the 'rents are here so that will be a no-go. You should definitely try and make it to the next Tampa one. I have been going to them lately ...

lilaclucymaxima Feb 14, 2005 03:40 AM

looks awesome, nice job man

Requin6 Feb 14, 2005 06:54 AM

VERY sharp car man, nice work!

Big_Ham Feb 14, 2005 07:37 AM

Thanks ... your car is equally sharp. I only wish I, too, had a V1 ...

RastaManMax Feb 14, 2005 09:24 AM

I think that these are a good upgrade for the 95/96's, but i still don't see myself doing it to my 97 since the headlights are already clear and fit perfectly, but to each their own.

LudeAEM Feb 14, 2005 10:00 AM

Thanks for the advice on the weather stripping. That was my missing link that made me NOT want to buy these. Look at you big ham... damn you, making me spend more money. :)

I tend to agree with you, however ... putting a one piece light on the 4th gen really brings up the look of the car. There are few cars nowadays with two piece lights on them. Everything from the Camry, to the Sentra ... there isn't even a single 2005 Hyundai with two piece lights.
