How many of you guys have MEVI's, but un-installed? Proposal to do a full write-up?!
 

I have a feeling, I may be the only one who has a full MEVI kit laying around. LOL I just bought my maxima about a month ago, jumped on this forum, found a member with a COMPLETE MEVI KIT for sale, and bought it. I know this was the hottest thing to do and talk about 2 years ago, but I never see threads anymore about it. I've been reading as much as possible and slowly figuring out how to hook everything up. I still have a million questions though, and was wondering how many of you guys are in the same boat as me. If there are a handful of you guys out there, and potential future owners of the MEVI, I would like to propose doing a full write-up with pics... just like ptatohed's supercharger instructions.
But, in order to do a full write-up, I'll most likely need the help of those who have gone before me.

Several of the links in the MEVI FAQ section here on this forum are broken, specifically the ones for Mr. Cranman's write-up. I am aware of the info on vqpower.com, but that is not nearly enough information for the basic mechanic.

Your input is greatly appreciated.

you are not the last one. i got mine, but didn't have time to install it. i'll work on it during the summer. mine will be ported before i slap that puppy on the engine.

I clearly stated that I looked in the stickies. The information is incomplete, many links are broken, and it's not idiot proof like ptatohed's supercharger write-up.

Throw me a bone man. If you provide a link/web page with some awesome, complete write-up with pics, I would appreciate it.

Sift through the broken links until you find something then. I found a link in the stickies that works and it shows you how to install it. Took me 1 minute to find it.

I've gone over the related threads for the install and everything seems fairly straight forward except for the wiring as it would be new to me.

Ummmm. NO. I've spent hours and hours reading EVERY fact/link in the MEVI section. Clearly, you can't read between the lines of what I'm saying. And until one actually has a MEVI kit, with all the parts in front of them, and read the instructions and various threads, can one make heads or tales of the instructions and what is being said. It's easy for you to say, or anyone for that matter, that ALL the informations appears to be there. Or, it may seem straight forward to you, but to a entry level/intermediate mechanic such as myself, it's still confusing as hell.

Say what you want, I know the link to the install is in the MEVI FAQs. Don't talk to me about reading between lines when you're the one with the issue of comprehension. Like I said before it's in the stickies.

Deezo, chill dude. If you are so sure that you have found a link that answers all Wizard's questions, then post it here. Don't just say you know where it is. He clearly stated he looked where you looked and didn't see exactly what he wanted. So he is simply asking for additional information. He certainly isn't lazy as you put it, he has cleary done his homework and spent hours looking. And I agree - while there is a lot of VI info. out there (VQPower, stickies, etc.) I have never seen exactly what I, personally, would like to see: a complete listing of all parts, with part numbers (of both genuine Nissan and 3rd party parts) and a complete , foolproof, step by step set of instructions. All he's doing is what any smart person would do, he's trying to gather as much info. as he can before tackling a very important install. I'll be doing the same when I get around to buying a VI.

I just searched and it does appear that all the install links are down. However install is easy if your an average DIYer. Go out and get a Chilton's manual. The MEVI installs just like the stock manifold. The only things that are different is that resonance chamber on the top of the manifold. You splice a new vacuum line (line #1) off the fuel pressure regulator and run that to the vacuum tank. Then the other line (line #2) from the vacuum tank goes to the MAP solenoid. Then another vacuum line (line #3) goes from the solenoid to butterfly valve actuator on the manifold itself. What you have done is made it possible for the butterly valves to open via vacuum. The vacuum tank stores vacuum (thanks to a one way valve). When a signal is sent from the rpm switch to the MAP solenoid, the signal grounds the solenoid and the internal valve in the solenoid opens up and allows the vacuum from the tank to pull open the acuator valve attached to the butterfly valves. It's as simple as that. The rpm switch uses an rpm signal and your choosen rpm setting. Pull the rpm signal for the switch from the front driver's side coil pack. That's the easiest spot.

Here are a few that i have used for my installation. They were basicaly all i needed. Other then that it is fairly simple. If you have any other questions feel free to ask. I know its hard to get help when every question has already been answered and everyone always says to go search it or look it up...

Too many people are asking for info that is there and when we say "Go to the stickies", that's what they should do. Ian's link for the install is still up. It's getting rediculous. Stuff is compiled there for a reason but people keep walking right by it to get post count.

As far as the bad links, Kevlo and SXN is supposed to be straightening all that out when they get a chance.
