sunroof won't close flush

My sunroof can be opened all the way back, but when I try closing it, the height seems to be slightly off, causing an incomplete seal.

Also when I try using the "tilt" switch nothing happens, and I don't even hear the motor. Does the sunroof slide and tilt functions use the same motor?

4th gen faqs has some instructions for a rebuild. Before I even think of that, I want to investigate, if this may be a motor or switch problem. A rebuild doesn't look like a fun job and the dealer will rip me a new one :bawling:

Flush Fit

My sunroof tilt and slide feature still work... however the rear side of the glass is not 100% flush when closed. Is this where yours is not flush?

there is only one motor. To see if the glass will go through the proper range of motion take down the controls. There is a spot for an allen wrench (which should have came with the car). Use the wrench and turn the motor manually. One way will tilt the glass and the other direction will open the glass. If it opens correctly by hand, its the switch, motor, or some other electrical issue. If it doesnt work at all its the cable (for lack of better word). I think its plastic and can wear out over time.

If everything works 100% but the glass is not flush you can buy shims to raise the glass. If you need to lower the glass you can remove shims.

I wanna know too. I took the panel off the glass to see the shims. Very straight forward. Just need the shims

I saw shims at Autozone. You know the HELP section with all the parts in little packges. They have a bunch of different shims in one pack.

How many bolts holding the glass to the track do you have? Just wondering.

I think its just one per corner
