Need help tracing short
 

I have a short somewhere that is draining my battery overnight. I attached a jumper-battery to the car with a short-circuit alarm, and pulled all the fuses one by one to try and narrow it down. Needless to say that the alarm didn't stop. I didn't pull the fuesable links because I didn't know what I would be doing. I have a nice stereo in the car, and pulled fuses there as well, no luck. I also have the fog light mod, but that has been flawless for 5 years, and the stereo for 8+. Other than getting it towed to the shop, does anybody have any suggestions? :gotme:

What is a jumper-battery and short circuit alarm? What i would do is get a ammeter and measure the current across each fuse one at a time. When you find a current draw, that is the circuit that is causing the drain. Also, one of your relays could be defective. Good luck!

A jumper-battery is a battery that is used to jump start a dead battery. The alarm alrets the user that a short-circuit or reversed connection has occured.

spddude has the right idea but instead of going across each fuse. I would disconnect the negitive terminal of the battery. Connect the black wire of the amp meter to the negitive terminal of the batery and the red lead of the meter connect it to the negitive wire the you had disconnected form the batery. Read the amp meter it should drop below 50ma which would read.050A. If it's above that then while the meter is connected pull the fuses one at a time until you hit the circuit with the draw. If the fuses don't kill it then remove the relays ona at a time as well. Never start the car when the amp meter is connected
