Number of Maxima's made from 95-99

I was wondering if anyone knew how much maxima's they made each yeah. How many se's gxe's and gle's made. Also how many were 5 spd's and how much were automatics?

Umass021 Apr 24, 2005 12:10 PM

Does anyone know where I can find this stuff out?

Bobo Apr 24, 2005 12:21 PM

I've finally run into someone more anal than me. I can't answer you question, but welcome to the club, lol!

Kevlo911 Apr 24, 2005 12:24 PM

You try to search on Google?

Loe max Apr 24, 2005 12:28 PM

I remember reading on www.newcartestdrive.com or some other link online saying that 9 or of 10 Maxima's are automatics.

Nismotic Apr 24, 2005 12:50 PM

From my extensive research on the topic, I've concluded with the figures below:

95-99 Nissan Maxima

GXE's- 4

SE's- 5

GLE's- 12

SE-L's-2

(Figures have a .9% margin of error) :hide:

NCSU_MAX Apr 24, 2005 12:52 PM

ive read that only 9-10% of fourth gens ever made are 5spd.

DAVE Sz Apr 24, 2005 12:55 PM

No way, you mean 90% are auto, just like the guy above said? WOWOW.

Umass021 Apr 24, 2005 01:10 PM

Was more gxe's made in 5 speed or se?

Im going to say that their were more made in the GXE model.
The GXE is the basic model and the 5 speed is a cheaper transmission.
Ive never seen an auto GXE, im not saying they werent made im sure you could have ordered one im just saying Ive never seen one. Cant be too common.
SE models were available in Both auto, and manual.

wasson7 Apr 24, 2005 01:40 PM

From what I have heard there were 127,000 max's in 1999, don't know the break down of any models though. Just my $.02

you must have entered a digit wrong somewhere in you extensive calculations, cause there just can't be that many more GLE's then the rest!

around here, it's almost impossible to find any maxima with a manual, I've always seen GXE's and SE's in automatic form, never manual. Kinda weird...

Bobo Apr 24, 2005 05:00 PM

Well if you want to buy a 5-speed I guess it helps to focus on the classifieds posted on the .org as there is an inordinately high percentage of members who have a 5-speed.

My local stealership recently told me that my 95SE is rare because its a 5-speed and that about 90% of Maximas are automatic.

Terran Apr 24, 2005 05:37 PM

That's pretty amazing that only 10% are stick. I have one :D.

I think last time I looked at the poll in the general forum was about 50/50 auto/manual on the org.

Bobo Apr 24, 2005 05:58 PM

That's because its a Maxima enthusiasts' website and many car enthusiasts prefer a manual transmission in a 4th Gen, hence the almost 50/50 deadlock vs 90/10 automatic in the general population.

Terran Apr 24, 2005 06:13 PM

Yep. That makes sense. We've even got a handful of nuts who spend $2k to put in the "cheaper" tranny .

Bobo Apr 24, 2005 08:53 PM

Good choice of car and color, Terran, lol!

Dan Apr 25, 2005 06:22 AM

Search for all the maximas on autotrader nationwide, and it will give you a pretty good statistic. I figured 8 percent are 5 spd. Also, i have seen many more GXEs in auto than 5 spd.

It wasn't exactly a choice...it was the first 5spd that turned up in my area that a could afford :D. Thanks though, you too. As it turns out though I think its my favorite stock 4th gen color...almost black, but a little more interesting.

Bobo Apr 25, 2005 07:46 AM

Particularly on a bright sunny day when the car is nice and clean!

jblinga Apr 25, 2005 09:21 AM

Most of the GXEs I've seen have been auto, along w/ all othe models. I heard that it was more like 1 in 20 (5%) that are 5spd. I used to work in a sevice center & the 5spd was few & far between.

The figures seem a bit low to me, but you're probably right. I just hate how people leave out the Maxima Si-R when they talk about the 4th gen. It was barely distinguishable as a Si-R except for the door decals, and one of the highest performance Maximas made to date.

Some of the stats on the Si-R Maxima from March 1997 Road & Auto:

0-60 4.8
1/4 mile 11.9@112 mph
tires: 325/30-19 R, 285/35-18 F
beam axle: titanium and uranium alloy
HP: 353@4400 rpm
Torque: 344.75 @5800 rpm
Transmission: 8 spd manual with 5,6,7,8 being overdrive
rpm at 60 mph in top gear: 485
top speed: 210 (drag limited) :Police:

Dan Apr 25, 2005 04:51 PM

I have never heard of this Si-R. Are you talking about a honda?

I'm surprised you've never heard of the Maxima Si-R. You might even be driving one without knowing it--many people bought them and didn't know they had it because they forgot to put the stickers on the door at the port, especially in Elizabeth, NJ. If your car can drive more than 200 mph, you have a Si-R. :mardi:

nd4spdgt Apr 25, 2005 05:07 PM

Say what? I've never heard of that, those stats sound pretty sweet though. So the only difference is a decal?

Frank Fontaine Apr 25, 2005 05:09 PM

Ok, you got me, the Si-R is just something I made up. But sometimes it's all in the decal!!

Bobo Apr 25, 2005 05:13 PM

We'll have to give Frank Fontaine something to do to keep him occupied, lol!

Haha, you suck, I just realized that you said it had an "8-speed" transmission...ha, don't know how I missed that.

Ant96GLE Apr 25, 2005 06:52 PM

That just goes to show how gullable and ignorant the newbs are here.

Maximus_95 Apr 25, 2005 06:55 PM

ok guys, i have a fully loaded SE with every option there is and i am a 5spd!!!
now i know my car is rare.
maybe only 10% of the 4th gens are like mine?

nosispower Apr 25, 2005 06:58 PM

Wait, do I have an SI-R? I timed my 0-60 time once and maybe I just clicked my stopwatch too quick, but once I got a time of 4.8 seconds.... I don't have the SI-R badging though so maybe I have one of the cars that you're talking about?

Is there anyway I can find out from looking at the engine or reading the VIN number? It's auto, so I'm not sure how many gears it has...Someone help!
