ECU 0402 - Car won't start
Hi Guys,
My dad has a 97 Max it used to be mine.. it won't start up for a few weeks now.. it cranks over but nothing.. it has power and we even tried moving it to see if it was a bad place in the starter or something.. he said he was driving it and the check engine light came on and next time he tried to turn it on it wouldnt.. so I had him pull the ECU code and it is 0402 which on the ECU thread has no real information. the car wont start at all!! any ideas?? suggestions?? BTW - the error is supposed to indicate FUEL TANK Temp. Sensor |
also - the fuel gage is below E when it is full
|
0402 = Fuel tank temperature sensor fault.
I believe your fuel sending unit has bit the dust. Thats not why it's not starting though. The crank position sensor, POS can die and not throw a code. If that sensor isn't working, you will get a crank & no start condition. The crank position POS sensor is located under the car on the tranny bell housing. It looks at the flywheel. |
