Figured out what's wrong with my car.
1. Knock Sensor
2. o2 sensor right front 3. EGR Control Solenied 4. Elecronic Fuel Injection Gonna cost about $1000 to repair all of those, maybe cheaper but those are nissan's prices, I need to get them somewhere else that's cheaper. |
www.jerryromenissan.com ($90 for KS) Easy to change yourself
EGR solenoid valve part #14956-31u10 (about $70)...easy to change yourself www.oxygensensors.com |
I had a little something similar wrong with my old 93 240sx, a couple fuel injectors needed to be replaced and a couple o2 sensors needed to be replaced to.....Nissan was asking $2300, so I sold it, bought a max...

How in Gods good name is it going to cost that much? I would get a second opinion on that fuel injection theory.

Don't bother with the KS yet - the O2 sensor might be setting it off. Fix the other stuff and then check to see if you have a ghost code a week or two later
Replace the O2 and EGR yourself. What's wrong with the fuel injection system? Go dump in some Chevron w/ Techron Fuel System cleaner in your gas tank or is it a fuel injector? |
The KS code is being triggered by the O2 and EGR system errors. You most likely don't need it.
Put a new O2 sensor in it, clean out the EGR passages and clear the errors from your ECU. $90 bucks for the O2 and a few hours of labor to install it and clean your EGR system. Brings your $1000 quoted price down under $100 bucks and I bet your problems will be solved. What code did you get that points you to "Electronic Fuel Injection"? And what are you fixing, replacing, repairing on the "Electronic Fuel Injection"? :gotme: |
SO you finally bought a maxima, good to hear.

Thanks everyone, you dudes are great I will try to do this myself, I'll pic up the sensor over the weekend.
I took it to Nissan and got it tested (costed $100) and they told me the E.F.I and the others were the problem. I'll pick up the repair book for the Maxima over the weekend, any instructions on changing the sensors? |
And I just bought the egr for 60 bucks so I'll let you know how it goes

This weekend I gotta replace the EGR solenoid and KS as well (KS is cracked in half :( ) also the Idle air control valve was literally fried, and clean as a whistle inside...210$ for the IAC valve :O

Scott, a little off topic.
Your screen name reminds me of an old rap group, Boogie Down Productions (if my memory is still intact). |
