Ball joint

has anyone try to replace this and if so how hard is it

Stuntin' 101 05-03-2005 06:09 PM

your better off buying the complete control arm from ebay.. you can get an aftermarket one, with all the bushings, and the ball joint, already pressed in for like $70

Front ball joints have to be pressed. I didn't have a press so I got raped at my locsal shop. I paid $250 for my front passenger side ball joints and didn't even get a dinner out of it. Maybe someone else has better experience. You might save money by taking off the wheel assembly and taking it to a shop for pressing. That's what I wish I had done.

my lower driver side ball joint is loose so im wondering how to fix it

MaximaSE96 05-03-2005 07:16 PM

unless u want to rent a press from like autozone but its just easier to get the new control arm.....u get new bushings like fore mentioned above...then u can do it urself cause its jsut swapping control arms...the only way to fix a loose ball joint is to replace it

How can you tell if it's loose? My car makes a single popping noise during low speed turns. Is that the ball joint?

could be your cv joints.....i just had my sway bar links replaced and the car feels and sounds so much better

My brother and I put about 8 hours in trying to use a press on the ball joint. We tried every angle but unless you have a torch to heat that baby up so that it expands, you are SOL. I finally went to MasterCare and they hooked me up in about 45min. and for only $130 for the passenger-side joint. My advice, don't waste your time.
