windshield WASHER not working

when i pull the wiper stalk, the blades start going the 3 or 4 times they're supposed to, BUT NO WASHER FLUID comes outa the little jets on the hood.

what i've done/what i figure is next...

- filled reservoir, and it's not leaking or draining.

- checked jets on hood for clog using small pin to clean out - no help.

- looked in owners manual for fuse/fusable link issue - there does NOT seem to be a separate fuse for the pump which is no doubt at the bottom of the reservoir, at least not taht i could tell. if there is, which the h3ll one is it (LOL)?

so i guess i'll have to check...

- connection to pump to make sure pump is getting current.
- hoses to make sure they're not clogged.

if all that checks out, i'm assuming i need a new little pump thingy, right?

anybody had this problem and ever done this? looks like you access it from behind the pass. side fender well cover...

thanks for any tips/suggestions...

ps - aside from that (and a dead battery), and the fact that 2 BAS-TAHDS have nicked the drivers side corner of the front bumper and dented the rear driver's side door WITHOUT LEAVING A NOTE (i was parked - arrrrrgh!!!), the car has been EXCELLENT. i bought my Gold/Tan 95 SE Auto (everything but leather and Bose) for $5900 (81K at time of purchase) in sept. 2003 and have had ZERO other problems, normal maintenance only, 26MPG w/cruise set at 80 MPH on my two most recent road trips, burns no oil, and it goes like h3ll when i want it to. i'm INCREDIBLY satisfied.

arguably the best built, most reliable car i've ever owned and a blast to drive.

good job NISSAN

I would say it's your motor since the weather is nice and you added fluid.Motor most likely went dead from sand and bulidup clog.

you can check your motor with a 9 volt battery. Just remove the motor and connect the battery to it. If you hear it pumping, then it is working. If the pump is working, you might need to clear your hose. Also check if there is a leak in the hose.

You have to access it by removing the passenger wheel well cover.

Good luck

you might want to check all your hose connections my girlfriends altima hoses slip off of the nozzels sometimes so I'd say you should check all your hose connections before you test the motor

thanks a lot, folks - i guess there's no separate fuse/it's all part of the washer fuse, huh? in any event, i'll get under there later today.

fortunately, pump is only 20 bucks at the zone.

just another thing to like about my max. :mardi:

Speaking of washer stuff, and I know I'm off topic here but...does anyone know where I may be able to find replacement jets for my 98? What I'm looking for is a replacement that sprays flat. All I need are the two black jets that attach to the hood, but I can't find them with the flat spray anywhere.
