WHAT BRAKE rotOr and pad do you guys have?
i have 65k on my 1997, and planning to order rotors for it as my other car needs it. so i wanna put in an order so the shippping costs can spread out evenly.
i bought some axis pads for my maxima so im stuck with that, i just need some ideas, yes i have read the stickies that pertain and i dont plan to do autocross or that nature, but i want somethign that is going to last me. i also drive this car A LOT in stop and go traffic and just many commutes.. just long durations but nothign intense like auto X i was thinking powerslot SLOTTED in FRONT and BREMBO OE blanks in back, or is that jsut a waste and i should get ALL BREMBO OEs on all 4? thanks. any ideas? post make-up and vendor. thanks. |

They all rust like hell. I have brembo blanks out back and firestone blanks up front. I do need to replace the fronts though, thanks for the reminder.
Running hawk hi-dust in front and axxis ultimate dust out back. Nice performing pads though. |

I'm on Brembo cross drilled for all four. They do rust, but that is normal. I did not opt for the cadium plating. I only got them for looks. they do not stop better than blanks.
If you were to upgrade to a bigger braking system then you will notice a difference. If you keep the same size, it's only going to be for looks. I have prostop pads all around. They have high lasting power and low dust. They have good normal stopping. They do lack a little in cold or extreme stopping, but they are a great everyday pad. I got mine off eBay for around $200 + shipping for the rotors. (a couple years ago from Nightsauto) Pads cost me around $45 a pair at Pepboys. |
All rotors will rust unless their coated.
Irotors makes their own rotors. Their really good rotors for the money.'Ive had mine on for over 2ys and their still doing fine, no cracks. I got mine for 225.00 shipped through a deal they had. Im running OEM pads. With the x drilled/slotted rotors i didnt want to get an agressive pad that would eat away at the rotors. |
Brembo sells rotors that are bare iron.. many places will zinc plate them for looks, but it doesn't do anything else to them...
If you don't like the rust, you can always powdercoat the hubs before installing them on your car. I've done that with several sets over the years and they always stay nice and pretty. as for brands that IRotors sells, they have several. your best option is to call them and speak with them directly. they carry many products that aren't listed on their website. |
Autozone Duralast rotors for $29 each. I used to have PowerStop cross-drilled but they pretty much made no difference except for maybe some more noise. Depending on how long you are going to keep your car, I think it might not be worth it to spend so much on aftermarket rotors especially if you are not gonna race them. The plus side is that you can just go to any autozone and pick up the rotors without the hassle of paying for shipping and they also have a 2 year warranty on them. The duralast rotors have a good rep in the honda autocross and road-racing crowd.

Mine is stock and is just 'adequate' when I am braking after running the 1/4mile. I would like to upgrade the rotors, but there aren't alot of options for stock sawblade size.

I had my zinc coated but then i got them turned so i knew they were perfect(ebay is not always good stuff). They still rust in the middle where the pads dont touch, other wise it seems to me with my brembo crossed drilled/slotted that i cant lock my brakes up. I did install SS brake lines too but before i was always able to lock my wheels up, maybe its just better this way i wish i could have tested. I would go with slotted or oem brembo. If you want looks do the crossed drilled/ slotted. Just go for low dusting pads, that is always a good choice.

i bought 4 slotted/zinc-coated rotors from Automax w/ OEM nissan pads.

you can get brembo oe blanks from Jeff at importrp.com, he can cut you a deal for sure, mention zazon, he beat the current group buy we have going here significantly. i got 4 blanks all around and axxis/pbr ultimate ceramics all around all for less than 230 shipped. great deal imo. these pads are unreal :)

i bought from them and i bought the pads already, shipping for 2 rotors where like 80 bucks?? or osmethin crap.. sucks to live in ahwaii.. but ya...
i'm not going for looks, just whatever works for me.. |
Autozone. Cheap. Easy to get. Been good on my car for a year now in NJ/NY traffic.
