Need help ASAP, drivers side Axle popped out and can't get it back in
 

I need help. Long story short, axle popped out and I can't get it in any further than this:

Is it suppose to go all the way in? If so how, I can't get it in any more.

I haven't done this myself, but i would check the other side of your car. See how far that side goes in!!!

Passenger side is a totally different beast and is nothing like the drivers side.

Did you try using a rubber mallet at the end of the drive axle?

PM sent. Before you use the mallet, check the axle splines and see if you can get a look at the teeth inside the trans just to be sure nothing is messed up. Those teeth are pretty precise.

Teeth look good, snap click is on. How hard is it to push back in>?

I've always had to hit them with something to get them to go in all the way.

Axle is still on the hub so what do I hit?

dab some thick grease on the C clip and make sure its centered.

use the axle nutt and thread it on so its flush with the tip of the axle and use the mallet. this way you dont chance marring the threads. a good sharp push should also seat the axle.

Axle is still on the hub, I could not get teh nut off in the first place.

Also how do I center the C clip? all it does is spin around in the groove.

Just get it close. The splines in the tranny will help position it as it goes in.

Had the same problem, and I got it in by alternating hitting with the rubber mallet (a good frim whack is all it needs- brute force won't help you) and then "massaging" it by hand by grabbing around the part that's slightly rusty in your pic (or as close as you can get to where it enters the tranny). It's a VERY precise alignment, as others have said. By massaging it, I mean pushing it in and finding the correct, perfect angle where you're pushing it straight in. If the angle is just slightly off, whacking it with a hammer won't do you any good. Even though it's halfway in, you still need to continue to push it straight. The higher up you can get the Max, the easier it is to get under that and play around with it. Good luck!
As far as centering the C clip- I agree with what you said- all it does is spin around once it's in the groove.

did you get it yet? I used a BFG (Big F&ckin' Rock) on the end that has the tire on it. Make sure you leave the axle nut on so you don't damage any threads.
I know that method is kinda butch and all but it worked for me.

I had to take the strut assembly out and jack up the control arm to make it straight. Also I had to remove outer tie rod off the hub to position it in place. Then when I got it even, I kept pushing the hub and it finally went in there.
