LED's for gauges
 
Ok i got some leds for my gauge cluster a (5mm and 500 mcd super white) and they are bright as hell but when i put them behind the gauge you can barely see the light coming through.. What type of leds did you guys use i would like them to be as bright as the write up shows. please help

500mcd seems pretty low in general. i bought some leds that were 14,000mcd and THOSE were blinding bright!

how are you placing them in your guages?? if you bought the led bulbs that are made to replace the 194 bulbs in your guages, i think you would need to get the "Inverted Led bulbs" to do the trick. The inverted one will spread the light more thus lighting up the guages better.

i got some 7000mcd and was afraid those might be to much, but DANG! 14000mcd...

I've also herd about sanding down the outside of the LED, so it looks cloudy instead of clear, this will help spread the light out.

I know people have to sanded down the gauge needles to get the same effect.

i used 5000 mcd...bright enough to show the guages....but not blind the person
