She's being prude and wont open up! need help

hey guys so my door wouldnt open from the outside jus the inside...for whatever reason i thought it was the child safety lock. i hit the switch on the door and found out i was wrong. My door wont open at all!!! not from the inside or outside SH*T
so um now what do i do?

RockfordMax Jul 12, 2005 02:46 PM

coat hanger... if u have it unlocked go for it. i had to do it on a 75,000 dollar lexus at work, and that was very nerve racking, but on a max its probably not hard to do. after that, id say pull your door panel (interior) remove the waterproofing plastic and just look at your opener mechanism. if anything looks broken (obviously looks, not take-apart wise) call up your mechanic. hope i can help :)

well look at it this way........at least if someone tries to break into ur car they wont get thru that door

MSmax96 Jul 13, 2005 07:22 AM

Chickan Jul 13, 2005 07:31 AM

jimmy it open, and then remove the door panel.

if you have keyless entry hold down the unlock button for the front windows to come down, and then get in dukes of hazzard style

i had the same problem with my old maxima some one "TRIED" to break into my car....HINT tried......but never got into the car i guess he unhooked the rod connecting to the handle and lock and basically screwed him self an never got in but i took the door pannel of from inside and hooked it back up very easy but the hard part was taken off the pannle good luck

You probably broke a 50 cent plastic clip that wi cost $3-5 at your local dealer, can you get in from the other side? And does it open from the inside?

MSmax96 Jul 13, 2005 01:58 PM

its the back right door, so i dont really us it alot. And no it does not open from the inside because i flipped the little child safety lock because im an idiot.
So i guess two questions:
1. How do i go about taking off the door panel?
2. since i can not open the door from the inside or outside(even though it is unlocked) is this going to be a ***** takeing the panel off with out being able to open the door?

Wetballoon Jul 14, 2005 04:37 PM

Yeah, that's gonna suck. Might be a little easier if you pull the back seat out. You may even consider pulling the front seat to allow for a little more room. Maybe you could get a coat hanger, wrap it in tape to prevent scratches, and release the child safety. I have nevertried this, but it might work

If you can't get it fixed yourself, take it to a local (not dealership) body shop . They do this type of work everyday & will probably give you an estimate for free.

I got a little bored, so I went out and took a few relevant pictures. Looks like you can use a slim jim or coat hanger, but do wrap it in something. Otherwise you can expect some nasty scratches. It appears that the safety switches need to be pushed toward the rear of the car and it is at an upward angle. The bend is up to you but remember that you have to get around a slight corner and the little piece of plastic trim is about an eighth in thick.
I was going to dispaly the pictures but they are 2048x1536 and images this large pasted within the boards really annoy me. If you can't get it, I think you can get the panel off, but I definitely advise you to take out the back seat and at least slide and lean the front seat as forward as possible. Without further adieu...

I make no guarantee as to how long these pictures will stay up.

hey thanks guys yeah i dont have anytime right now to try to get my door open but once i get a day off work this will give me something to do. I saved the pics so dont worry about how long they stay up. I am worried about the scratches since i jus got the car painted(awesome work by Tilley) which reminds me, I'm going to put up pics of the car soon...... u all will like it
