Those who've done CV boot replacement
I wanted to know if the Nissan CV repair kit contains the inner CV retaining clip - the transmission side? I think I will need two retaining clips, one for the outer CV joint and one for the inner? My kit has 5 clips of varying size. Are the inner and outer retaining clips different sizes? Lastly, if they're not in the kit, are retaining clips usually stocked at big chain parts stores or will I need to contact a dealer? Thanks.

It's better to replace the axle.... If you have Raxles they have a lifetime warranty :)

True Jason, but after a year you have to send the old axle back before they'll send you another one. I can't have that much down time. It's the smart way to do a lifetime guarantee.

clips are for more than one type of axle. The OE boots fit on more than one type of car. Just find the clip that is the closest to the same size or don't change out the clip.

Just replace your axle. On my friends 97, one of his boots ripped and replaced the axle. THen spent 60 bones to get it aligned, then 4 months later the other boot ripped.
This is why i replaced both axles, and only spend the 60 once. Oh yah dont forget to buy a few quarts of gear oil. Your gona loose some when yankin those axles. |
