Noisy Exhaust - Can't Pass State Inspection

Hey guys I'm in a bit of a jam. I recently went to get my car inspected and they told me I needed a new exhaust from the cat-back. I said yeehaa! A good excuse to upgrade, right..??

So I go down to the local rip-off chain service station and have them put on all new pipes (B and resonator) with a stainless magnaflow muffler.

Now the thing rumbles like a monster! My buddy has the same muffler and his is much quieter. It is probably because I have the warpspeed downpipe, but I didn’t think it would be that loud.

So anyway, point being, its too dam loud to pass inspection. Any ideas on how to quiet the beast? I had the idea of universal silencer inserts..that possible?

FYI - Magnaflow mufflers + downpipes = loud (but not ricey at all :-D)

Maybe put the stock muffler back on for the inspection, and then when/if u pass it, put the magnaflow back on?

btw, any sound clips?

Stock muffler was junk :-/

No sound clips, maybe I can get some though if your really interested. It sounds a lot like the cat-back that GReddy makes.. much cheaper though.

Anybody know of one in NH?

And you've been here how long? You should know by now tht a y-pipe adds a lot of noice when coupled with magnaflow mufflers and custom b-pipes ... been there done that ..

A Maxima cannot ever be "loud", and not ricey .. Loud = ricey ... :slap: Get anotehr longer/larger resonator, and a quieter muffler.
