Lowered with stock wheels
Does lowering the car like 1.5" look dumb with stock 16" wheels? Do you need 17 or 18" wheels for it to look "right"? Seems to me like the price of wheels/tires is about the same as shocks/struts (I'd get Illumina's with H&R's or something similar), and I'd think the suspension upgrade would be more worth it.

i dunno how it would look lowering ur ride wit stock wheels but im rollin on H&R springs and Illuminas on 18's.. chek out sig!!
|
no it wont look too bad, better than a 4x4 sittin on 20's. right now im str8 pimpin on chrome hubz. :hide:

lowered on stock wheels looks a lot better than bigger rims with no drop... or even stock height on stock rims. ideally, you'll get rims and a drop eventually, but for the time being just go for the suspension.
|
Putting Illumina's and H&R's will drop the car about 1.5" right? Do I need to adjust camber after modifying the suspension? Do people typically get the extended travel mounts for the rear suspension?

i ahve the se 16s lowered on illumina's and it looks good

i'm lowered on s-techs and stock 15" sawblades, it looks great IMO.

i have a 96 with 98 se wheels and am on H&R's...Looks sweet to me!

here is mine on stock wheels tein s springs
2.2 front 1.8 back i think http://www.thedv8tor.com/images/lowerd%2022.jpg |
A drop will look regardless wheather its on aftermarket wheels or stock wheels.
I'd say drop first, enjoy the good handling, good look, then when you have the money put the wheels on next. Putting the wheels first always leaves you with a larger gap, and if you cant afford the drop and dont like the extra gap, it will aggrivate you until you eventually get the money. Drop on stockers never looks bad. |
IMO slight drop doesn`t really look drooped on maximas. it only get rid of that lifted look

the only people that will notice are Max drivers unless you slam the ish out of it
drop first/ then wheels. It will look good, and then it will look GREAT |
just gettin 15 posts

i like that stock dropped look. not ricey at all.

I'm dropped on progress as well. It's the most under-rated kit on the market. If H&R's aren't low enough, go with progress
|
yea ima get in on the group deal and grab some s-techs and the save for the struts thanks for da advice
|
there is a group deal for s-techs

- you need and alignement - you dont need a camber kit - you can, you dont need to. if your not driving around with a 150lb stereo in the trunk i wouldnt bother. the only kit available is made by another org member and it is over priced and poorly designed. |

sprint/agx and 18s. i would suggest doing the suspension first. i would also save up an extra 2-300 buxs and get coilovers. no strut/spring combo will compare to true coilovers. Struts: 440 Shocks:170 = 610 Coilovers are between 700-1000 (JIC being most expensive) The ride is very adjustable. Height and dampering. check out this site for more detailed info: http://maxmods.dyndns.org/index.php?MaximaHandling sleeve coilovers will give you a very harsh ride. now b4 i get flamed for that i only know have HEARD that for other people. I dont know first hand. my sprint and agx give me a slightly harsh ride but nothing i cant stand. i dont mind it at all but i do wish i would have saved a few bucks and waited to get coilovers. anyways good luck, be sure to post pics when your done. -Sean |
There are no coil overs that are around $700 anymore.
