suggestion for headlight bulb
 

I need new headlight bulb, so i am trying to figure out which brand of headlight bulb are the brightest beside hid. Got any suggestion? and where should i get them? Thanks. Currently thinking about silverstar

Nokya Arctic White bulbs from SportCompactOnly; get the upgraded harness too. Total cost comes to $40 but they're the brightest bulbs I've every used. Much better than Silverstars, longer life, and half the price.

silverstar sucks you'll be disappointed...go with nokya or luminics

Sure but get the harness or you'll eventually melt the stock one.

while you getting a harness consider going the 9007 way. thats what i would do.

Convert the stock 9004 bulb to 9007. Read the How-To sticky.

I've used both nokya and luminics. I prefer the luminics over the nokya for a few reasons, #1 being the warranty they offer. Luminics has a 1 yr warranty on all their bulbs so you have the security of knowing that if one burns out within a year you'll get a free replacement. This is important to me since the nokyas only lasted me 7-8 months on average before either a low or highbeam fillament would go out.

Luminics also offers a wider range of bulb choices, whether you want the blue HID look, the bright white Euro look, or the yellow JDM look, etc...

does ANYBODY on this god given earth know of a set of 9004's and 1157's that match???!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!

i have silverstars...and di the 9007 conversion...person i thought it'd be bright ..was an upgrade over stock setup but ..that was that....probably thinkin of goin luminics..but instead of just waisting more money on halogen im gonna get maxgtr to do my dual lens hid's and get me some nice 8000k's.....after drivin on the rain you realize just why they created hid's....

hey how is that 9007 conversion? is it hard to do? because i am thinking about doing a plug and play after reading it. but with upgrade harness. I am not sure the upgrade harness goes where. U think u can help me out if i got any questions? or any advice for me??

no i did read it. But just incase i get stuck somewhere, i want to ask around for help. But it look simple enough just a few things i am not sure about. I guess once i take it apart it should be more understandable.

How are you going to get stuck? Clip two wires, cross them and repeat on the other side. File down two nubs. Repeat on the other side.

^yea all that in a nutshell. nothing else.

you just cross 2 wires, tape them or w/e you wanna do with it back up and plug them in. file 2 nubs on your headlight since teh 9004 had 3 nubs and the 9007 have 1. and there you go. typically you get 10w brighter. since 9004 are 55w and 9007 are 65w but ppl normally put in 100w bulbs with the harness so yea. there is just a little bit of brightness compared from 9004 to 9007 but ever bit helps unless your HID

What is the Luminics website?

You should check Circuit City for some Nokya 7000k Artic Whites, in my local CC, they sell them for only $18.99. But I bought Redlines from Best Buy for about $17.00, they are pretty cool looking at night.

Phillips NightHawk 9007's are the brightest. You'll have to convert your 9004 to 9007's but the write-up is here in this forum topic (just do a search).

Stay away from any HID kit or bulb that claims to be as bright as a HID. They're garbage for visibility because of they don't have any lumens power. Look for light that produce the max amount of lumens.

Let me say that again. Look for a light that produces the max amount of lumens. Also, avoid Silverstar or similiar 'white light' knock-off as they tend to burn out faster than a sparkley on a two-year-olds birthday cake.

A friend of mine works at CC and put the Nokyas on his car, I actually thought they were hid at first :gapteeth:, they are bright and white. Always check the wattage on upgrade bulbs unless you want a melted harness AND headlight bulb housing.

ok thanks, i think i am goin to try to do the plug and play convertion. Just incase I ever want to go back to 9004 when I sell my car (highly doubt it, since this is the second 4th gen maxima i own)
