Roof racks

Anyone know a place that sells decent roof racks for a decent price? It seems that a whole outfit for 4 snowboards is gonna end up costing me like $275-300 CAD which I DON'T want to pay.

As I said earlier, I need to be able to carry 4 snowboards with enough clearance so the bindings, hopefully, don't damage the paint on my roof.

racks are expennnnsive. I might get one for the snowboarding season but they cost too damn much. And you gotta get a Thule if you get one.

What is a snow board? :jeffy: Racks are ugly as sin, you could get an olllllld datsun truck for that price, put the snow board (whatever that is) in the back of that :gapteeth:

granted, but this car is my daily driver and I may as well use it like one. Plus, i'd rather ride home in heated seats after a day on the mountain :-)

You don't have a pass through? I used to pop the front bindings off and slide the boards through the center.

hmmm .. it always looked a little small, but i'll try it out. How do you 'pop' the binding off though? do you mean taking them off completely?? I'd hate to have to unscrew them before going home, then screwing them in again before riding.

Yes, I took them off before. Ive got a small T-handle screwdriver ratchet, I got it from one of the snowboarding magazines like 7 or 8 years ago, but Burton and many others sell something similiar. I keep it in the cargo pocket of my snowboard pants, along with a couple extra screws. I only had to take a binding off of one board if I remember correctly, so I would just take it off my buddies, lol. I keep the tool with me all the time, just in case a binding loosens up and I'm anywhere but at the bottom. Its a little hassle, but saves spending $400 for a roof rack for snow boards. If you go by yourself, you don't even need to pull the bindings off, it will fit.
