It's VQ weather.....
 

I took my car for a drive -- after not driving it for a few days....being used to a 3.5 VQ, all I can say is this damn motor pulls like a champ.

Driving habits didnt change, but temperature sure did......after it being average 75*+ here......today it was 45 or so...

almost no traction in 1st WOT - i sh*t you not......barked 2nd and 3rd once :mardi:

my tires are so bad i dont get traction at any temp! but around here its been mid 40's also, and my car runs like a champ! nissan really pwned the market with the VQ

In my 03, before I got certain mods, I would leave twins through 1st ... now I can't even though I have more power ... Crappy tires = teh sux0r :squint:

I agree the lower temps do make the VQ come to life.

Yeah Auto's Suck for racing..but great for travels

anyone else notice there car seems way more powerful and faster when it first starts and engines cold?

what i want to know is y can the 350z engine the 3.5L make alot more power than the maxima 3.5

i could think of a couple more situations that id want an auto ....... :jump:

im mean mines an auto...and i love it when im cruzin' and when i race little honda's but when i really wanna race i hate it!

well they are both the 3.5 L what i'm thiknin is that the z engine has different cams and the stroke is different basically all the tuning if more for high performance becuase after driving my Z to the dealership to test drive a 03' max the power difference is sagnificant gotta love the rwd tho

yeah i really want a 350z myself.. there tight.. if i had one i would leave it stock cause it sit's phat as is..

Yeah, you say that now.
I test drove one last week.... They're fast... but it didn't really do it for me... For how much they cost, I couldn't see myself ever buying one new. I could get ALOT more performance for something that much.... With some headers, exhaust, and some suspension goodies, the 350 would be pretty sick.
Plus the clutch in the 350's SUCK.....
Other than that, I loved it... its a very tight wrenched car....


+1 on the cold weather.... I love my car on these cold nights

First gear, 20mph, sudden WOT, can't get traction because I switched to my winter rubber (all season Yokohamas). My GS-D3 tires would chirp and not spin when I did the same. Same goes for second gear...I spin rather than chirp. Spring needs to come early.

of i wasen't condoning street racing in anyway shape or form please do not street race it is dangerous for the clutch part ya mine went out at like 30,000 wtf now i'm rocken the nismo stage 3

..to get on topic ya i think that there is a power gain when it is cold out too its because the air is more dense and more oxygen is getting into the engine making more hp

Yes, now that the temp here is dropping about 20 degrees, it IS nice to have the VQ sucking in fresh cold air.

yea man the car is a monster in these cold nights.. they roar so dam loud..scare all the othe cars on the street lol.

then again what engine does not perform good in the cold?

i know turbo guys are loving it 2x more than what we are right now

Don't everyone diss the autos... I have a BP tranny and I can't get out of first when the weather is like this... The cool air feels great as does the power it creates. Funny how so many mods make some difference but I really notice how much the temp makes every year.

i think the humidity here in St. Louis is as big a factor as anything. Cold, dry air is deffinitely welcome here! Pulls so much harder :hs:

And... I can lay rubber off the line and get a nice hard chirp on the 1-2 if desired... Not every auto can say that....

What's your BP tranny got? Since laying rubber and chirping is soooo cool. :calder:
