Choosing between Eibach's and H&R's
I've read a few threads in the past about different springs and I've narrowed it down to these two. I just want a modest drop with good handling and as comfy of a ride I can get with performance springs. The car came with pretty new Tokico Blue's and I know most would recommend Illumina's but I'm just going to stick with these till they die.
So which one should I go with, the Eibach's or the H&R's, please back up your recommendation with some kind of facts if possible. Also, I'd like to pick up a used set of whichever ones I choose so PM me if you have a good deal on some. |
ok since u already have the tokicos, you might as wel get the h&R's since there not as stiff as eibachs.. which eibachs will probably blow your struts in a month if not a few weeks
it also depends on the roads where you live, if you live in bumpy asss streets then eibachs are not for you since you have the tokcio blues. you will feel everydam bump i have the eibachs and i love it, if you want pure performance than they are THE BEST SPRING hands down. well besides race coilovers. Its a good company and very well tested product. They dont seem that harsh on these nyc roads either, but i have illuminas... the hand rs will give you performance as well well simply its like this if you want peformance go eibach if you want comfort and modest handling go h and r, i would go h and r since you already have the tokico blues, the eibachs will just kill that shiet. |
Actually the roads aren't bad where I drive. I live in the suburbs and mainly drive on 4 lane highways and they're all pretty new due to the growth in the area. The Eibach's are tempting because they are easier to find and I would like better performance out of the suspension, plus I have them on my Z and they seem to be pretty decent. I just don't want to have to replace my shocks too soon.

Eibachs on a 4g are stiff ... not very comfy ...unless you're on stockers (15's)

i would not go with eibachs if youre looking for comfort.

IMO H&Rs are the softest (next to OEM) and eibachs are some of the harshest springs you can buy. On 15s the eibachs may not be to terrible but w/ 18s you will feel alot (but of course the handling is more responsive). Its all personal preference - feeling the road doesnt bother some people.

I know on paper, the numbers say the spring rate on the Eibachs are stiff, but I don't know why everyone says Eibachs are really stiff and uncomfortable. Mine feel weeeak (paired with agx). My buddy's progress/agx setup feels much tighter. Granted, I prefer a stiffer suspension setup, the car is still my daily driver and it's perfectly fine.

Get yourself H & R's if you want a ride thats near SE spring rate, if you want something a lil bit stiffer, get Eibachs.. They both give around the same drop anyway

My Eibachs are bumpy as hell. 18" rims, with the illuminas. If I could do it all over again, I wouldnt of spent a extra dime on my Max.

Well I'm getting some really conflicting answers here, but it probably has to do with wheel and tire size and road conditions in everyone's areas. Like I said, I'm not going any bigger than 16's in the future because I think it's a good balance between looks and performance (not heavy). By taking that into consideration and the fact that the roads are good where I drive I'm probably just going with the Eibach's. It sounds like the H&R's might be a little soft and won't perform as well, and judging by the way my car handles now I can use all the help I can get suspension-wise.

I have eibachs, and I say their not as bad as people make them out to be, they are progressive, so small bumps aren't so bad, just plan on practically STOPPING for each speed bump

the only reason i think my eibachs doesnt feel bumpy is because of my illumina struts
but hey go eibachs if performance is what you want |
looking for comfort.....H&Rs......track usage Eibachs

i have eibachs and agx in my I30 i love them to death. the colder months are are little harsh then u just set them to a softer setting. other than that no complaints. some people even said my ride was pretty soft compared to most lowered cars
|
I have Eibachs paired with GR-2s and trust me San Diego doesn't have the best of roads but I don't get a harsh ride out of mine. They feel very good and the drop is right on the money.
