CD Stereo Swap - Loss of Volume/Power

I swapped a 96 maxima stereo w/ cassette and cd (non-Bose) into my 97 maxima today. It was an easy swap with no left-over wires, etc. The only problem is that the volume doesn'y get very high. Does anyone know wheteher this particular stereo set-up is supposed to have an amp?

The speaker impeadance on your 96 probably isn't the same as your 97.
They were both non-bose systems, correct?

Yes, both are non-bose. The speakers on the 96 said something on them. I forget what they said but my 97s don't say anything.

Will an amp solve the problem?
