Ok, i start my max (98 , not my 92) and it starts up right away but the rpms go up to 1200, then instantly drop down to about 600, then jump back up to 1200 only to start the slow decent to 700 as the car gets warmed up. Iv noticed it happenes when its cold out, and today the rpms did a double bounce, droped to 600 and then back to 1200, then down to about 400 and almost stalled, then back up to 1200 and slowly dropped as the car warmed up. Kinda hard to explain this problem but use ur imagination, this "rpm bounce" happens in less then 2 seconds. Well for some reason I am leaning towards the fuel filter but who knows. Any input would help. She needs a tune up so hopefully it will go away when i do that

BTW . 98 SE 5speed, 104k, Idle is smoth and other than the strange start up, it runs perfect
