98 Maxima won't Start
Car started to lose power and I went into the store and came back out and it would not start. Mechanic told me it was the timing belt. These cars have timing chains. Anybody have any idea what this could be?

does it crank? do the lights still work? have you tried jump-starting etc... we need more info.

if its your timiming chain u need to stop trying to crank it. u will damage your motor . mine went did not know it . kept trying to crank it bent some valves 1200 dollars later had to buy another motor
|
That would be weird for a timing chain to go on a 99 unless you got like 300k miles on hard driving. Run as far away from that mechanic as possible.:nervous:
Sounds like a fuel problem to me. |

wish someone told me this. i wish i knew that it was my timing that advanced and not those damn sensors that i was replacing. now i need a new engine. lucky i found one on ebay yesterday and won it for 285 shipped with 80,xxx miles :naughty: |
check your battery first if you didnt already. Could be possible that your battery is dead and your alternator is messed up a bit or the belt is gone for it?
