+1 for D2's
well if there was ever any doubt in these coilovers before let it cease to exist now..... Installed mine today and man what a difference. Handling is amazing and the ride is smooth compared to my Progress/AGX setup (which wasnt bad to begin with at all). Best part......... NO NOISES, thats right absolutely quiet. I understand alot of you guys experienced this when these first came out, but let me say that I believe D2 has since fixed all of that as I have spent all day testing and playing with different settings with no problems. So if you can gather some cash treat yourself to an amazing suspension setup. :sprint:
NOTE: blackmaxx96 has a deal going for these in the Group Deal forum for CHEAP - jump on this deal now. Hes a great guy and an excellent seller - support a fellow Org member; he will treat you right. |
Ive been saying this for a long time now, but no one listens, they just remember back to the few who did have problems in the beginning.
edit: ya what spring rates did you go with and what dampening settings are you running? |
sweet news, what spring rates did you go with? update us in a few weeks/months on these.
|
Right now the rates are 8/6 and i have the dampening at i believe 24 out of the 36 if im correct in assuming that the higher the number the stiffer the ride. Ill definitely keep you guys updated over the next few months - right now i couldnt be happier w/ them.
|
Yeah the 8/6 combo is the "standard" setting when it comes to the 4th gens. Other spring rates are available of course but 8/6 seems to fit PERFECT.
As all of you said, the noise issue... well, isn't an issue anymore. The D2's have definitely come alot further since their first set-ups for the 4th gen. Thanks for the good comments, Grant! He speaks the truth guys!! Mike |
hymm...apprently 8/6 feels good n 9/7 feels too harsh. I feel like i'm on a horse when i'm in my car. but i'm used to it, but sometimes it's just like..oh man....here comes the....::BAM:: Oh, and dont lower it too much like i did..i ruined my CV axle like that need to change it now..heh...

hey Jsutter or Vlasic, I need to get an alignment soon for these things. Do you guys know what the optimal camber settings are? Thanks guys,
|
well for good tire wear stay within factory spec. but if you want to tare up the corners a bit more negative camber will help traction. factory spec is -1.00* to .50*.
|
i wish i had money for true coilovers.....the ol lady woudl never allow that big of a purchase for my car until she gets her long anticipated ring

I have my camber set to the factory spec.

NCSU_MAX and I are going to try and make/sell a "Coilover noise fix kit"...
We've narrowed down all the small problems with em, and are just trying to find the right parts to use to put together a good kit. We'll have you guys updated soon hopefully. Mike |
hey mike is our deal still a go I should be ready real soon?
|
I think i'm gonna end up keeping em... it's been so long, and i've done alot of tuning to the suspension since then....
I do have access to new 4th gen sets though... Let me know if you want to try to work something out. Thanks, Mike |

different, thats not the source of the noise believe it or not
|
i just put new coil overs in my car last night..took a long time because i never did it before but rite now i have the car about even in the front and the rear and i hate to ride..and i have stock rims and tires for now..man i hate it i am taking them out this fri nite..the car bounces a little over bumps and i feel like if i hit a small crack in the road the thing is going to smash throught the hood..dont like it
|
their not bad if you know what settings to put them at including preload and dampening. Any after market setup (besides maybe Illuminas and H&Rs) is going to be rougher than stock w/ varying degrees of roughness. If you have crappy roads then no these are prob not for you - they are made for track use anyway. The roads here in NC arent that bad so Im pretty pleased w/ the ride.
|
yea i cant wait til i get my d2s this summer
|
Hey guys just to know ...
anyone ride this setup in winter or you guys swap every year for those with winter of corse ????? |
