Lookin At Y-Pipes, Aluminized or Stainless?
Im checkin out the y-pipes and i want something thats not gonna rust out, how much better is stainless and howmuch longer will it last?
Depends, if your gonna sell your car withing the next 4 or 5 years just go for aluminized. If you plan on running it into the ground then go for SS.
I would go with SS since it won't rust. That's definitely what I'll do if/when I get a ypipe.
Depending on if they salt the roads is PA. Aluminized Steel will still do the job and won't rust for 5 or so years, thats if the roads are salted.
yeah, i got alum because at this age (my car is turning 12 in 6 months :) ) my unibody will rust out before my y-pipe does, so it doesnt worry me. The hangar and welds are pretty much coated as of now either way.

definitely worth the investment in SS. it will probably last the rest of the time you own the car and it would probably be worth it for Philly winters.
yeah your right im definantly gonna go with ss does anybody know anything about the warpspeed y-pipes?
yes. ive got an alum one, but the welds were amazing, fitment was perfect. no bees-in-a-can, its perfect. WSP ftw!
get a budget y-pipe. its one of more the cheaper ones in terms of price but i think they are all SS and has better reviews on the board then WS
I went with Budget because from what I was hearing on the .org at the time, WS wasn't doin as well quality/fitment wise.
SS budget for those salty PA roads.
I got an aluminized warpspeed a few years ago in a group deal and it still looks great after 3 chicago winters.
I say get SS. You can keep it as long as your car and you never know, you might be able to sell it down the road for more money with just a little clean up versus an alum one.
my 2c |
ss is a waste of money
was the factory ss? no it was not |
which one is considered a budget y-pipe?
i'm looking at the WSP page trying to figure out which pipe to choose on a budget, we don't have rust problems in OK. |
If you car does not see winter salt, get the cheapest Y-pipe.
If you have winter conditions, an aluminized pipe will last 4-6 years which is still a relatively long time. My T304 SS pipe is going on 5 years now and looks very good (just some minor surface tarnish). The aluminized pipe on my Greddy catback is 3-4 years old and looks like crap! |

oh yeah it's the stainless steel
I would go with SS as well. I live in Toronto and there's a lot of salt during the winter so I figured might as well go SS.
