Installing STS and Can't get the stupid shift knob off
I was about to install a "Nismo" (eBay nismo) STS last night but couldn't get the GD shift knob off. I really tried to muscle the crap out of it! Good thing I hadn't gone under the car yet, b/c it didn't budge.
It's a RActive that looks like this: http://www.toucanindustries.com/clie...ucts/TK607.jpg The bottom part looks like a retaining ring, which I tried to twist off also, but only moved it about a half revolution. I bought the car with it already installed, so I don't know how it went on. Anyone know how to get this thing off? |
Gotta remove the bottom part of the ring and then screw it off vice grips are your best bet just make sure you use a towel or something if you are reusing the knob

:sprint: on the vice-grips
Also, eating wheaties in the morning before trying this makes a difference. |
Are you sure the bottom 'retaining' ring isn't just a cover for some allen screws?
Just curious. Also, maybe the owner super-glued it on? LoL |

U have to get that ring on the bottom off first. Then there will be 2 - 3 allen screws, and then possible super glue lol.
