best HID temp for P. Beige?

What is your opinion about the best temp HID for a p. beige maxima?

I don't like the 12000k... the color doesn't match very well I think...

5oooK? 6000k? 8500K? 9000k? etc...

What's your preference?

dude put in regular Philips 4100k bulbs not some stupid ricer bulbs... why would you want to sacrifice color for output…???

What can I say? I think HID's look cool. Plus, aren't they supposed to be brighter? You must know something I don't. Someone explain plz.

He's not telling you NOT to get HIDs, he's saying just get the 4100k rated bulbs - it provides the best light output, but doesn't provide the :chebosto color (which is at the cost of light output).

Any other temp is just rediculous and defeats the whole purpose of HIDs.

the degree of the bulb has EVRYTHING to do with the light output. The higher the kelvin, the lower the lumens. The lower the lumens, the less usable light is emitted onto the road. If you go to some extreme kelvin rating, your car is not gonna have a whole lot of light on the road, but instead will have purple headlights, barely being any brighter than stock bulbs on the ground. You will be seen, but wont be able to see on the ground. This absolutley defeats the purpose of having HID's. IMHO, unless you are gonna get a retrofit projector, HID's are far from ideal in our 9004 setup. believe me, i learned the hard way. I had HID's and went back to stock. 4100-4200 degrees is a standard HID bulb. Also, alot of the times, these super high HID bulbs are nothing more than regular HID's with paint on them. This is not good. I see alot of cars with rediculous kelvin ratings at night, and when i pull up next to them, I see more light on the road from my own regular lights than theirs. I think they look rediculous and just say "hey look at me- i got silly purple lights". Good luck in whatever you decide, but don't say we didnt warn you.

If you want to get hids prepare to spend $500+. Projectors are the only way to go! Philips 4100k bulbs inside the relector housing will blind the fawk out of other drivers.

HID color temp should be based on what your eyes prefer to see. The more bluish the temp gets, the less the visibility will be. I'd stay within 4100 - 5000k.

I have 7k for my car, you can check it out on my cardomain. If I had to do it all over again it would be 5k without a doubt. 1 less reason for cops to pull me over for blue/purplish lights.

if u want a lot of color don't lose light output by getting a 6000 or higher bulb stick to 4100-4200 depend either phillips or osram but if u get a good set of projectors and do the mod on the by bending the shield youll get mad flicker wich will look like theo pretty 6000 or 12000k u want but with 4100 light output, so people get to see the wonderful color of flicker while u get to still see them, lol

Anything over 5000k will be too blue and that decreases visibility at night, so stay around 4000k.

most of you are somewhat accurate ... 6000k really isnt that blue at all, theres only a small hint of blue ... trust me..I studied Nismotics 6000K hid light output in a garage .. very hard to see any blue ... 4300K IS said to give you the most light... its equal to the sun ... theres not much difference between 4300 and 6000K .... HIDplanet.com, everything you need to know

if your worried about glare, which you should be, just buy a bulb shield on ebay or make one yourself so it blocks the extra light hitting the upper part inside the headlight, this is what creates all the glare that people complain about when looking toward oncomming traffic

can we get away with putting HID's in the stock housings? If i were to get 4300K hid kit and aim the headlights down a little, will i still be hasseled by cops?

yes there is too much glare ... you can aim them down but it wont do much.... get a glare shield ... im gonna go look on ebay right now and look for the link for the bulb shield

Probably. There are one or two methods that you can use to fix this, including the "bulb/glare shield" mentioned above.

I was loooking at the headlight housing in my 95SE and noticed that there is a bulb shield in there. It's a tube shaped with both ends opened. Will this be enough for shielding? Not sure if 97+ headlights have this, probably not.

FINALLY the thread I’ve been looking for!
I have a black 5th gen max. I am deff going with 6000k at most for the heads and Im not sure if I should go with the same for the fogs or go with some yellow ones. I kind of like the yellow fog look reminds of cars of my childhood.
Thanks for the shield idea I didn’t know that, do I need those on my fogs as well or no?
Also do you guys know any reliable name brand kits and bulbs I should look for?
Thanks again guys
