S-Tech's on stock rims
 

Hey guys,

I've had s-tech's paired with some tokico illuminas for about a year now, with 18" enkei's. I'm thinking about going back to the stock SE rims. I want to see pics of the s-tech's on stock rims though.. would it look too slammed with the smaller rim size?

Also.. will my handling degrade when I take the wheels off, or is handling all pretty much due to the illuminas?

The tire profile increase may make up for the rims size decrease. Plus it would be a smoother ride.

Thanks for the info. Btw these are some quality 8" wide rims. Anyone think my handling will degrade a lot going down to the stock SE rims (and keeping the illumina/s-tech setup)?

Yes, the performance aspect (cornering) will decrease due to the larger sidewall. With the 18's you have a low profile tire (35-40 series sidewall) which will not allow the sidewall to flex (roll) when cornering, unlike a 15/16 rim will with a 55-60 series sidewall.

As far as the difference, depending on what kind of driving you do will depend. Are you driving the car in AutoX competitons? or Are you just driving the streets aggressively? On the streets the difference would be minimal, where as AutoX-ing would be a little more noticeable.

I also have S-Techs /AGX on my Maxima and am currently running stocks 15's and I think it looks fine. Roughly a 2.5 finger gap all around, looks alot better than stock ride height on stock wheels.

Hrmm :D ... I do enjoy the occasional taking a curve on the parkway at a "nominally" high speed. I don't do any competition crap, just drive on the road aggressively every now and then. So the difference would be minimal? Hmm. Looks like I'll have to think about this some more before changing it out.. but I probably will change it out anyway since I kinda want to go back to stock, and have more of a stock look, at least for now.

No Problem, if you want first hand experience, why don't you bolt on your stock wheels one weekend and drive for a week on them to see how like or unlike the wheels.

i had my s-techs with sawblades for a while...it was pretty low, about a 2 finger gap all around. but the ride was pretty much smooth....now with my 17's..not smooth at all, but handling's great.

no pictures yet. I guess most people who drop their cars have enough money to buy rims as well. So s-techs with stockers might be a little harder to do.

I think any decrease in handling will just be due to a smaller width and a little more sidewall flex. Ride quality will go up however.

The S-Techs are not an all out handling setup anyway so I don't think it will be a huge change.

does anyone have any close up pics of this setup?

I'm running on S-tech and AGX w/ 17" and Falken Ziens, its perfect for highway/ smooth surface road, but regularly on bumpy road its aite, but handling is awesome. I'll post up some pics later....if yu still wants to see it
