Hey fellas, I was wondering if getting an intake is really worth it. And if so how much horsepower will i get? Does it effect my miles per gallon? Another thing is that my friend has a 99 or 00 grand cheerokee limited (4.7) auto. He wants to race my 96SE 5-spd. Do you think i have a chance of taking him? thanx...

no, it's not worth the trouble, my friend andyxxl got the instake and he didn't like it so he sold it, it's loud and doesn't give you enough for it to be worth it
instead learn how to shift smoothly and quickly, that will help you more then the 5-8 horses

and of course you will beat a cherokee, no matter how powerful it is, even if you shift bad :)

An intake in my opinion is a very good investment...sounds good and gives you an extra couple of horses..plus it looks better then the stock. Not too expensive either, and I think that it may help the mpg by a little bit. And as for the Cherokee, I would not even waste my time and gas on racing him...it just pitiful that he wants to race you.

Sure go right ahead... BTW, banging through the gears slows you down, just take it easy thats the key.:naughty:

Truck Killa

Even thinking twice about beating a cherokee is insulting to the Max. It's a truck. It could have 330HP and a V-8...its a different kind of power. Its totally different than the maxima. Totally

RE: Intake and Jeep Questions...

The intake is definitely worth the money, it is a very common upgrade that a alot of people who are starting out get. and about the truck...I whopped my dad's ML430 (as powerful and lighter than a grand cherokee). You have nothing to worry - you could stay in first and kick his *ss the whole way...
