Good Fixer'Uper?
 

Check this out. Looks like the only thing wrong is the headgasket. Wanted opinions on whether or not this could be a nice FixerUp type of purchase. Not that I’ve messed with a headgasket before, but from what I’ve read it doesn’t seem to be all that big of a deal.

What do you guys think? Mileage is low for a 96, but I did note that the tranny was rebuilt. A little early if you ask me so somebodies been punishing this car.

I want a 4th Gen project car soooo bad, but that don’t mean I want to start with a piece of sh*t. What do you guys think? Is it worth it?

I'd buy that for $1000. Esp. with a new trans.

I'd wait to try and get a 97-99. I'd think a manual might be more fun for a project car.

Thought about that, but 1k for what LOOKS to be a simple fixer is hard to ignore. I could always do a swap, after all it is a project car and to be honest, I've always had much love for my autotragic slush box. Sure Im in the minority but who cares :chuckle: .

Anyway Im looking for input on whether or not the stated problems might have created, or currenlty be creating bigger problems. Hypothetically we'll assume that the Gasket really is all that is currently wrong with the car, would fixing it be all I need to do to have a mechanically sound vehicle back on the road?
