18x8's and tires

first: what size tires fit on 18x8's?

second: this sounds really dumb, but where could i find cheap tires...even if they were used a bit? and by cheap i mean about $150ish for 4 haha (sorry, im a broke college kid with no job at the moment, its a problem i must overcome.)

Just some advice...

Dont cheap out on tires. Its the only thing that contacts the road.

Oh course you can go cheap on tires but tires are basically life and death. I would rather have good tires then anything else.

Broke college kids with no job shouldn't be buying 18's unless they're spoiled....:gotme: :

I've got 235/40's on my car, but like everyone said: tires will be the difference between life and death. Don't cheap out on tires.

im getting them off a friend for $50 (someone gave them to him for free, they dont fit his car)...

and i know not to cheap out on tires. im lookin for somethin thats suitable just for summer. like 50% tread life left or somethin. and im not plannin on racin around n going super fast, just for everyday driving.

I have to agree, but nowadays tires are so cheap it's not worth used. You can get 235/40WR18's for about $110 NEW. I can say this though, it's rather frustrating dealing with the tire when it's >50% worn. Most of us can't afford to just toss them and get new, so we drive some more. But we're past the sweet spot for traction etc. In other words, when 50% worn, a $110 tire is worth about $30, see what I mean? If you score them for $100-$120 you're not getting any bargain. The last half of the tire is not as effective as the first. Brand-new is not good either, needs to scrub-in if you ask me...
