to anyone who has changed their belts before...
 

did the PS belt give you guys as hard of a time as it is me? i finally found all the bolts and loosened them all and the belt is about 2cm away from slipping over the pulley but i cant manage to figure out how to gain those 2cm....

i have the belt over the crank then im tryin to slip it onto the power steering pulley....is that how you did it? also, how do i manage to get the pulley over to the right about 2cm??

ive been workin on this damn project since yesterday n i just wanna be done!! (power went out thats why i stopped.)

did you loosen the set screw on the tensioner? It's in the middle of the pulley/tensioner.

also another thing I am assuming you figured out is that the bolt for the tensioner works the opposite way most bolts work. You need to turn the bolt to the right to loosen the tension on the belt.

Try a ppy bar, wedged it between the PS and push it towards the crank pulley.

Did you use the screw driver as a pry bar or did you use the screwdriver to slip the belt on?

the powerstering pump belt is the harder fo the two, I spent a few hours and a good screwdriver getting that SOB on

I found that it really helps to get the belt on the crank pulley and then just get it somewhere on the PS pulley, that way you can tell (by the belts tension) if you are making progress. The adjusting bolt can be tricky, if there is not tension/leverage it will just turn and turn. They all pivot off each other.

I stupidly turned the PS adjusting bolt counterclockwise and broke it. I was able to replace both belts but I can't get the PS pump belt tight without the adjusting bolt.

How do you replece the PS pump adjusting bolt and the nut that locks it? I couldn't get that broken adjusting bolt removed. The clamped nut that locks the adjusting bolt also looks hard to reach.

easiest way to replace a ps belt is to cut the old one off and walk the new one on.

People may see a problem but in my 6 years working on nissans have never had a problem nor has anyone else.

Turns your 1-2 hour job to a 10 min job.
