help! hood won't pop!

tell me if this is a coincidence of if it's something i did:

i just installed brand new hood struts yesterday because my old ones were shot. i tested them out and they work great. then, when i shut my hood, i pulled the hood realease lever again to re-pop it and it won't pop! i tried pulling pretty hard on it too and it wouldn't pop up. when i went to the front of the car to try pulling up on the hood itself to see if it was just stuck, nothing. is it the hood pop cable or whatever? could that have just gone bad? or is it something with the new hood shocks? is getting the hood release fixed a big deal? like will it cost a lot of money from the mechanic? thanks

where did you get the struts? if the hood does not close in the right spot, it can get "stuck" closed because the lock is misaligned with the hook on the hood. to open it, you can either have someone hold the hood release latch, or lodge something behind it to keep it open, and then lift up on the hood to get it to pop and open. same thing happened to my car when it was in a little accident so i just pulled the bar where the hood lock mechanism was at outward a little so it was lined up and now it pops normally. if i were you, i would try and see why its not lining up correctly and try and fix it yourself.

Have someone pull on the hood release while you raise on the hood.

sometimes the hood WILL stick. have someone pull the release while you bang the hood mildly with the side of your fist a few times right near the latch, that usually will make it pop up. spray the latch mechanism w/wd40 or the like and work it a few times.

this happened to me a while ago, non of the above mentioned methods worked. if all else fails you can pull out your grille and either try to release the hoodlatch manually or unscrew and remove it altogether.
