LED Brake Light

So I failed inspection for my spoiler brake light being out. It turns out it is the actual leds that are out and not just the wires like I was hoping. I called the dealership and they said $188 for the leds. Am I getting screwed? If so does anyone know of any sites that sells the led lights? Thanks for the help

Yeah, buying anything of parts from the dealer is quite expensive. But, what you can do is just buy the spoiler light itself from Spoilerlights.com and replace it. Just the middle tab has to be dremeled off since it doesn't line up with the factory locations. It's fairly easy to replace. Or it could be an excuse to buy a clear LED spoiler light like I have installed on my car. Or another option could be to just buy another junked spoiler from a junkyard and take the lamp from there. Don't buy the part from the dealer, they will take you for your money. Good luck!

I'm doing this job rightnow.

1. Take off you oem center brake light.
2. Open it with a heat gun
3. Take the electric plate with leds on it, and unweld each led and resistor.
4. Put new clear/red leds from a electronic shop ( about 0.20$/led) and 470 ohms resistor.
5. You should have 48 leds , and you can put one resistor on each 5 leds.
6. Put glue on everything for to avoid rust.
7.reinstall.

actually everything working great!

This might be a really dumb question but do you have to remove the spoiler to get to the leds? Theres like 1/4 inch room and I have like 0 tools so what should I use to remove the lens and get to the lights or do you have to remove the spoiler anyway. Thanks

there are 3 phillips head screws between your spoiler and trunk you can use a screwdriver shaped like to remove it and get to your leds.

Good approach! But if I were you, I won't spent so much time to achieve such tiny thing. Just go to http://www.spoilerlights.com/, get a new one and install it.

Which one do I choose though? I measured it and my lens is 15.5 inches but the holes dont look like they match up from the one on the site.

I guess no one read my response and post. No, the tabs will not match up. You must dremel the middle tabs off. I have done this install already with a clear LED spoiler light. Any questions, PM me.
