Alarm/Panic button doesn't work
 

I have a '98 SE and the panic button on the key fob does nothing and the factory alarm does nothing either, but the "security" light blinks once I lock the doors.

Well the button on the remote could be messed up. Could be messed up wiring for the alarm part.

I never tried to push that "panic" button. But, last time, I left the driver side window down and hit "lock" button. Then I realized it, I tried to save some time by opening the door from inside. And the alarm went off. Then I found it really works.

Well I believe any button turns off the alarm. At least the unlock/lock. If my alarm goes off I usually hit the lock button.

have you tried holding the panic button down for a few seconds? it wont work unless u do that. i know it sounds obvious, but no one else suggested it

pimpsmatt beat me to it. You have to hold it down for like 4-5 sec.

My remote has 4 buttons. Lock, Unlock, Trunk and Light. If you want to turn on the alarm - hold Lock button for a couple of seconds. Light button only turns on dome light inside the car.

question, everytime i lock my car, that red like that blinks decides to stop blinking and is at a continious state of red. is this normal?
