After fog mod, door won't open?

I did the fog mod on relays yesterday, thanks for Bryan's tips. It sure looks good.

However, last night, I tried to open the driver side door, but I couldn't.
Tried it again today, no, I still could not open the door by the outside door handle. Now I can only open the door from inside by crawling through passenger seat. The rest three doors work fine. Remote works too.

Is this just a coincidence? Or some problem that I might have overlooked? It sure looks like a mechanical problem instead of me having some short circuit.

Any suggestions? Thanks~

Replace the car.

Or take off door panel and have fun.

I personally like option1

probably not a conicidence because the maxima has doors by wire. could have shorted out a relay or a fuse. check in the engine fusebox, it's a 25A fuse

Thought it's because I used up the battery too much so the lock could not be opened all the way when I did the mod. So I drove it for a while to charge up the battery and tried today.
I am taking it apart tomorrow......

I did check just then with a flishlight, but I didn't see any 25A. I pulled a few out and they are all good......
BTW, thanks for all the iuputs from all the donating members~

they're teasing you LOL...Of course it's mechanical...there is nothing electric in the door apart from windows and locks...door latch is not electric LOL

Door Lock Actuator!!! At least that's what they told me......

MaximaSE96 Oct 2, 2006 08:25 AM

if u can open it from the inside its not the actutor.....unless of of course u unlocked the door when u crawled from the inside...but u didnt state the door was locked

Sorry for not making it clear earlier. I could open it from inside when the door was unlocked. Took the panel off this morning, and didn't see anything mechanical wrong. So took the car to a shop.

ok then of u could open it from the inside when it was unlocked its not electrical...the outter door handle need to be taken off...chances are the rod is messed up

The rod is actually in place, and that's what confuses me so much. Now I actually believe it's the "actuator" with something wrong inside...

Thanks.....

The SE is a 96 or 98? :chuckle:

Problem not solved, but it's working now.......
The shop suspected there's something wrong inside the actuator, since they could not figure out what's wrong, either.
This afternoon, I was on the phone while approaching my car. I hit the remote button, and open the driver side door without actually thinking about the problem. 3 seconds later, one thought pops out in my mind, ":wftlol: "
Put it all together, hope it lasts......

Man, that was a nice sunny afternoon......
