:slap: ive read that they help the handling of your car a considerable amount. but i wanted to stray from the ebay ones, because they are probably just for looks and have no real use performance wise. found this one, and to my recollection i think the Otto R fsbs are decent? no? im assuming the cheapa$$ ones on ebay are completely a waste of money.

As long as they keep the towers apart they all work the same.

NO matter what kind they are ........they all work the same.

They help more when you're dropped. You might feel a little if you arnt dropped. I noticed a slight difference when I got mine and I'm not dropped. Do make the engine bay look a little better.

yeah I would think the only thing that would make any type worse than any other kind is if it was made of really thin metal that bends fairly easy.... you know, like aluminum foil.

Well getting adjustable ones allows more flex then a solid one from point to point.

If you're on stock suspension or progressive rate aftermarket springs, or if you don't drive hard, then yes, all FSTBs work nearly the same.

If you're on stiff linear rate springs or coilovers, all FSTBs do not all work the same.

You have to consider the stress placed on the frame. The stiffer your suspension, the more stress your car will see from bumps and undulations in the road. A stiffer suspension also permits harder cornering, which of course adds even more stress. Any FSTB will make a difference, but the stiffer your suspension, the more your chassis will need the reinforcement, and a better FSTB will make a bigger difference.


Keep in mind that a FSTB is not something that will substantially raise your car's handling limits. When people talk about getting better handling with a FSTB, it's because they have better steering response, better communication from the chassis, and more consistent cornering behavior. Those things don't actually mean the car grips any harder, but they definitely help driver confidence, which in turn helps the driver corner at higher speeds.

Another benefit that you get from a FSTB is that the car is less likely to be upset by bumps and uneven pavement, which of course isn't nearly as much of an issue with softer suspension or easy driving.

+1 to dOOdfOOd... i went the ebay route and the fitment is perfect and doesnt look half bad. testament to the car response is better but not griping more in the truns. i lived in the mountains of WV and hit turns without the FSTB and felt the car brake loose. with the FSTB it borke at the same time but was much easier to bring back into control.

I pretty much agree with the last two responses. I got mine on Ebay and it also fit perfect and works just fine. As an added bonus, when I hit a deer at 70mph...the sheet metal folded back to the strut bar, which was undamaged. When I put a new front end on the car I was amazed how straight the strut bar helped to keep everything. Mine was about $25.00 and worth much more.

One more peice of info for my strut bar i had to hack up a bracket on the drivers side strut. i think it had to do with mounting the original airbox, but its ok because i could snip off just enough to let the bar fit and leave the treads on the mount intact.

I bought mine off ebay...25 bucks...works good
