Applo_1's A Sad Day.

Well guys, the work was finally done. And it was to be painted next week. As I'm driving back from the frame shop, the car gets totaled. Lovely! I'm doing about 45 and this girl is coming out of her driveway not looking both directions and pulls right out and t-bones the f*ck out of me and the miniature hulk. Luckily there were 3 guys that had just got done bush hogging for the state and saw it all happen and were all witnesses. It was totally her fault... I am severely pissed off after 55+ hours of sweat and work down the drain because someone cant look both ways. I am not sure were to go from here. Waiting on how much money I'm going to get from the insurance company and I'm going to see were to go from there. Heh, I was going to take more pictures and post them when I got home too. Damn what a fine day.

natty99 Jan 19, 2007 04:08 AM

damn man, sorry to hear that. I wasn't a fan of the car, but I DEFINITELY appreciated the work you and your dad put into that thing. Make sure you rip her insurance company a new one, since beating the girl up isn't a possibly. Maybe you can walk around with a fake neck brace or something. :hide:

I wonder if Macsima will pay his respects.....

Flava_24/7 Jan 19, 2007 06:42 AM

Not sure your going to get much for that car.
How was the title when you bought it? Clean or salvaged?

x X CLoud X x Jan 19, 2007 06:49 AM

Sux sorry to hear man

Yeah this is one really important reason why neighborhoods are 20-35mph. Ditto with parking lots. Obviously we can't tell from your description if that truly applies - that judgment remains yours. You never know when that will be a child, shopping cart, trash can, etc... and then it's YOUR fault. I would be freaked out by any road with parked cars or blind driveways that allow me to go 45mph but not see a lane's width on each side of my lane. Even at 35 I'm on high alert.

But that really sucks to hear your project was lost. I assume the cost of the project won't be paid by insurance, so that's the really cruddy part of it.

4x4Max Jan 19, 2007 11:18 AM

Why are all of you assuming it was in a neighborhood? People have houses on major roads too......i might of missed the part where he said it was in a neighborhood, so correct me if im wrong.

Really sorry to hear what happened. I'm always scared that my car will get totalled with all the work/money i put into it.

Exactly. Speed limit in some heavily traffic'd residential areas around here are 45 - 50 mph.

Apparition Jan 19, 2007 12:12 PM

Yeah houses line alot of the streets here in areas where the speedlimit is around 40-45. Still you just watch on those roads very carefully and if anything is blocking the view, slow that mother down even though the maxima has the worst brakes ever. Anyhow, I feel the pain man sorry to hear it.

There, I fixed it for you. Your brakes can lock your wheels, that's more than enough.

I assumed because most neighborhoods have a speed limit of 25-30 *most*

To me it sounded like the person coming out of the driveway couldn't see very well as if the driveway was blinded. Almost all roads that have homes along the side with short driveways or with limited visibility have a speed limit of 25 - 30. I have see many house lined along roads with speed limits of 40 - 50 but these houses have long driveways and people coming driveway as well as people on the main street can easily see eachother. If this is not the case they will post a sign "hidden driveway". This is the part where you start to pay attention.

try driving a car with drum brakes in an emergency situation. Maxima's brakes are certainly no where near the worst.

MorpheusZero Jan 19, 2007 06:05 PM

Sh!t, that really sucks man. I would have been yelling at her... was she at least apologetic?

They leave a LOT to be desired, but I guess it IS nice that we have discs all around...?

If you're saying Toyo proxes and Falken FK452's are horrible tires you have another thing coming.. I should re-phrase maximas have a terrible brake fading problem, which means they lock up even under a slightly hard load.

Though the tires and ceramic pads help. I have no ABS and even pumping the correct load duration, they still blow.

The S14 has better brakes than we do and their brakes are tiny and not much lighter than we are.. Around 26-2800lbs depending upon a few variables.

BACK TO TOPIC.

Maybe, depen bds on how he bought the czr.
If it was as salvaged tile, total losew. If he somehow managed to get full coverage on a car that was severly damaged and rebuilt then maybe 3-5K, thats as big mayb.
He already put in over 3k o df wormoi, minus the pa8nnt.l

fourstar Jan 20, 2007 01:57 AM

man that sucks ***... i woulda ripped the girl a new hole

Flava_24/7 Jan 20, 2007 01:59 AM

Is It a Salvaged Title?

I still have a valid carfax account, hit me up.....

MDeezy Jan 20, 2007 04:36 AM

If memory serves it does have a salvage title

Sounds like the wrong pads or a hydraulics problem. Try stock pads and new rotors - the stock pads don't need 100ft of braking to get warm enough to bite. Too aggressive of a pad just doesn't have bite if they aren't good and hot. On the street, this makes them simply dangerous.

BACK TO TOPIC.
Yeah, really, everyone has enough braking torque to stop the wheels, so it's irrelevant.

He said the girl in the driveway didn't look both ways. There are a bunch of roads here that are 45mph and have driveways on both sides of them. Personally, i'll NEVER live on one of these streets, just doesnt seem safe at all.

4DRSpeed Jan 20, 2007 05:10 PM

See how he lives in TN and I as well.

Where I live there are tons of roads with BLIND driveways, trees, hills, and tons of houses along them, and unless the road is a main road to get to many subdivisions, most of the back roads around here are 30-45MPH some even 50.

I'm willing to bet it is just a normal road, with a few SMALL neighborhoods off of it, or none at all and just some houses scattered along the road.

TN is setup nothing like IL, PA, or any heavily populated area. The only main parts of TN that have tons of houses and neighorhoods along the roads is big cities like Nashville or Knoxville. Other than that you mainly have country roads with houses scattered along.

Title was clean. Speed limit was 45. She didn't look both ways, she didn't even talk to me after I got hit because I was so ****ing pissed. I'm not quite sure how things are going to be with the insurance.

A fight. You need to make it clear that you'll waste $5000 of their time if they try to lowball you by even a grand. Be a spoiled ***** and make sure they deliver what they owe you.
