Car won't start, please help!!!

Hi, I need some help as my car will not start.

I had the starter replaced 1 year ago. The car was having trouble starting the last couple weeks and then today wouldn't do anything at all. When I turn the key, I hear a whirring sound and the RPM goes up to about 2000, there's power, but no other noises are heard. This is similar to what was happening before the starter was replaced, any ideas what touble I could be having? The engine codes 0102 and 0407 have come up indicating trouble with the starting system and/or starter motor.
Thanks for your help,
Ashleigh

Hm. Well you're in Santa Barbara, maybe when I get back in town (monday) I can swing by and lend a hand/ear. Have you tried push-starting it?

why would the RPMS jump up to 2000 is my question :werd2:

Fix the codes and then your problems should go away. Clean the crank ref/pos and cam sensors and hopefully it turns on fine.

Perhaps your battery has gone bad. Try to jump start it, if it starts up, you need a new battery. If it doesn't start then you need to troubleshoot it.
Items to look at are:
1) your already replaced starter and
2) the ignition switch.
