driver axle side didnn't "click" in, do I need to take everything apart now?
 

I have no idea if what that ring is lined up with at this point. I thought I had it together, but I can pull the axle right out of the tranny.


Now, do I have to disconnect the strut and the tie rod again?

I am assuming the car is still in the air?

It should click in, yes. You should be able to do it with those attatched although I have not connected the spindle without the axle first being seated.

If you can pull it out easily then something's not right. You need to redo it. How far "in" did it go? How much space between the little dust cover and the axle seal?

It can be really annoying to get this right.

First put a good dollup of grease on the ring and center it. Then slide in the axle end until it stops (the ring is now in contact with the detentes). Now slide it back out 1/2" and push it straight in and hard (wear leather gloves). That has always worked for me.

Don't drive with the axle not clicked. I went around the block once thinking it was set properly, and it came out a bit when I went up my driveway apron and started puking oil. Fortunately I only had a mess on my hands there.

same problem...tried to set the clip in the middle as much as possible...but the grease wasn't gunky enough so it just kept going to one side. I pushed it in as far as i can...used a lil wood blocks n held it n basically did one of the palm punches on it. And it went in. I tried hitting it with a hammer (there was a wood block placed on top of where the bolt goes), but that didn't work...but my hand did!!!

Thanks everyone, unfortuneately am going to Fl today, so I won't be able to complete this until I get back. I will update when I get the chance.

Update on install, definitly "clicked" in when I tried it again. I was a little lazy and just put my floor jack under the LCA to get the axles level with the tranny, pulled the axle out a little and then just slammed in there. Was one of those "Oh..that's what they mean" type of moments.
