Problem I've had for a LONG time

My car will not start at times. Sometimes it will start fine, most of the time it takes a few tries, and occasionally it won't start at all. This started under warranty many years back and Nissan could never find the problem.

It started as a hesitation to start. Like it would turn over and over and over and then start. Like the battery was cutting in/out and the power would flutter. Well now, it won't do anything at all. Turn the key, all acc come on. Turn the key all the way over and everything cuts off. Repeat the process till the car eventually starts.

I've ground the starter with a 4 gauge wire, still no success. The car does have an aftermarket intake, well a CAI, not an actual intake manifold and a larger Y pipe. Other than that, it's stock.

I hope someone can help. My gf drives the car mainly and she's fed up with it, as am I. I'd like to fix it and sell it and never buy a Nissan again after the problems I've had with this one.

It's a damn shame when my 600hp LS1 never misses a beat and my beater can't even start..../rant

I had a similar problem it turned out to be a bad ground on the battery that would cut out intermittently otherwise maybe its your starter btw thats the only problem ive ever had with max i love it great car

X2 on the ground, i've never had this problem on my Maxima, but we had this happen on my buddies Jeep on a wheeling trip and once on my Landcruiser during the rebuild. Good luck.

I took it off yesterday, as I was in a big hurry, and just cleaned it up a bit where it mounts off the motor. It seemed to help so far. I think I'll try and just mount the ground directly to the block itself instead of off that bracket it hangs on.

Thanks for the suggestions.
