4th gens on 18's without a kit

I've been looking at lots of 4th gens, wheel setups and kit setups for awhile now and have just recently thought about some new shoes. But I like my drop and stance on my stock 15"'s. 16's might look alright, 17 is pushing it, but to me, even with a decent drop, unless your tucked 18's just look awkward without a body kit to extend the curves of the body to match the wheels.

Any thoughts? Just curious on your guys opinions on the subject

18" tires that are similar diameter to the stock 15" tires will look terrible without a suspension drop. If the 18" tires you select are taller, thinking that this will "fill" the wheel opening, well think again. Looks like a truck then. You are correct; 17's are pushing it without a drop. Body kit, I don't know. They just never have appealed to me.

I think, after I've looked over the site for awhile, 17" and 18" need a drop, the fender gap is too large, smaller is OK,

I plan on doing a eibach pro kit with 18" coupe wheels, maybe a cold air and a exhaust, I'd like to free up a little more HP and gas milage,

18's wouldn't look too bad as long as you have a good drop.

Here's my Eibach 1.5" drop on 18"s and 225/35/18 tires and no kit. since I have mid-dished wheels instead of flat face, they look a bit smaller diameter than a flat 18 though. Rides great on our Ohio roads too. I wish it was 0.5" lower, but its my daily, so it cannot be slammed, especially in Ohio.

If you have an aggressive drop, you can pull of wheels and no kit easily..but the kit adds sooo much..

poowill, that is beautiful

blimblam Jun 16, 2007 07:26 AM

well for a max, i don't like the look of a kit on it. if i would to ride rims, i would just ride rims and get a drop but i would never put a kit on it..just my 0.02

Muranos before drop:

There is about a hand's width of wheel gap. It's less noticeable when looking at the car moving, though.

EDIT: In response to oldngivout's post:

As a reference, these are 18" wheels with 235/40-18 tires. They are the exact same diameter as the 15" steelies with stock tires.

alcatranz518 Jun 16, 2007 04:21 PM

Thanks for the compliments all! I have about 1" clearence between tire and fender and about 8" from bumpers/ rockers to the ground. As for the unseen, it all clears every auto carwash around here (the ones you put the car in neutral) You slammed guys know the ones where your engine carrige scrapes. Mine doesn't with Eibachs. Like I said, I wish I could be as low as VIP, but I cannot with a daily in NE Ohio. And as for the ride, I thinks its really smooth, I have GR2's for struts.
