Feedback on Warpspeed's SFC?
 

Was wondering if anyone has bought the subframe connectors since Warpspeed began selling them again. I know that vqpower wrote up a favorable review but I was looking for personal experiences with them. Is the new product the same as the old SFCs they used to make or is it revamped in some way? Just looking to hear people's experiences since Im considering investing...

It's changed a little, their cross bracing design has been altered. I had them back when they first came out around 2002ish and they were awesome.

Which stage did you have on your car? I was thinking of just going with stage 1...

Can you be a little more detailed on the improvements you noticed?

I had stages 1 and 2, stage 3 didn't exist back when I bought mine.

The car felt like the chassis was much more solid after the install. Roads where I live are very bad, especially railroad crossings. Crossing railroad tracks before the SFCs and over very very poor pavement made the car feel (and sound) like it was going to rattle apart. Rattling interior pieces, bouncing from frame flex, just a very uncomfortable feeling. After the SFCs the interior rattling was incredibly minor compared to just before the install, the car felt much more solid over bad roads. It felt better on the race track as well, like it had a bit less push (understeer) but my most notable difference was just how much more comfortable the car was daily driving on bad pavement.

One side note - the stage 2s hang a bit low in the center, BUT I actually found this to be beneficial. My car was dropped very very low on coilovers back then, and the middle of the stage 2s (where the cross braces bolt together in the center) worked as an EXCELLENT skid plate to save my exhaust. Without the SFCs, I probably would have broken my exhaust over a couple speed bumps, but the SFCs shielded it just fine.

They were such a marked improvement that I WILL be doing SFCs on my current maxima (my old WSP ones went along with the remains of my car to the junkyard after the car was totalled). Whether or not I do WSP or Truax SFCs remains to be seen.

Did you notice any difference in cornering? Did the SFC eliminate any body roll? Were the turning sharper?

gtr_rider has them installed on his car and he is the one who wrote the article on vqpower.com. PM him, as I know he was pleased with them.

I think he wants someone else who bought them to respond.

And personally I don't think there was anyone else who bought them...

I didn't notice any difference i body roll... suspension is what determines how much body roll there is for the most part. if you want to eliminate body roll you need springs and a swaybar.

The writeup I wrote on VQpower for the SFC was in favor of them because they are very well designed and built. If they were terrible, I would have definately mentioned it in the review but I did not find any flaw to them. Dallas resigned the center brace (original was thick) with the new version being thin to accomodate larger exhaust systems. As Neal said Bodyroll is up to the suspension to handle and stiffer springs, etc will resolve that.

I ask because in the writeup you mention that pretty much all body roll was eliminated after install...
