0908 Ects, Now 0302 Egr.

I got 0908 code the other day which was ECTS. Now that code is gone and i'm getting 0302 code, which is EGR.
My car keeps dieing.
WTF is wrong?..
How are codes coming and going?

If your car is dieing, most likely it's engine coolant temp sensor which makes problems. Did you try to reset the ecu ?

If you need ECTS, I have a used one that works well.

I have reset the ECU. It gave me the ECTS code, i fiddled with it (the ECTS) and then reset it (the ECU). Now the ECU is giving me the EGR code.

ANYONE ELSE???
HELP?

I cant believe that noone has a clue. Will the ects cause your car to die? or is it something else? Does anyone have a clue.

Fill out your profile info so we know what your driving and what you've done to it. It's helpfull information.

However, the two codes together would lead me to the temperature sender for the computor. BTW, P0302 is #2 cylinder misfire. You might also check for vacuum leak, intake air leak, bad coil, bad fuel injector, egr valve.

I'm pretty sure 0302 is "EGR System Hi/Low Flow". Did you use this link for the ECU decoder? http://vbxmaxima.8m.com/ecudecoder.html

No. I used Alldata. P0300 is multible misfire. P0301-P0306 is single cylinder misfire 1-6 respectivly. However, I'm talking about P-codes frpm computor diagnostic. I don't know about counting pulses or if it relates.

67whitegoat 08-29-2007 07:03 PM

I just checked Alldata. I see now that the P code is not the same. The numbers do not correlate.

Dave H. 08-29-2007 07:14 PM

I didn't know that. I was assuming he was using the self-check method used on vbxmaxima so I don't know for sure.

1.Check for vacuum leaks on hoses connected to you egr.
2.Apply vacuum to EGR valve vacuum port with a hand vacuum pump. EGR valve spring should lift. If not, replace EGR valve.
3.Also check egr solenoid valve, EGR Backpressure Transducer, or EGR temperature sensor.

Yea, he was. So he is correct. A (P-0302) is misfire. A (0302) is an EGR. I learned something new.

OBD2 P-Codes differ from Nissan Consult Codes

Mr Willis 09-29-2007 01:42 PM

i took out the sensor and cleaned it and it SEEMED to work but it still dies once in a great while. When this happens i just reset the light and it runs fine. Any other suggestions would be appreciated but i may just have to replace it.

A clogged EGR shouldn't make the car drive any different. I drove for almost a year b4 I cleaned it and didn't suffer any driveability issues. EGR works mostly at cruising speeds by reburning some of the exhaust.

MaxFanatik 10-01-2007 07:57 AM

well i had an issue with my EGR getting my car to die..... sometimes when it stays open the car chokes and dies, egr should open up at 50-60mph uusualy leetting out extra gases out but if its stuck open all the time than it will choke.
