During acceleration, does your ride pull left or right?

I noticed when I put 17"x7.5's on my ride, the car pulls a bit to the right during acceleration. I did have an alignment @ time of wheel swap. Does anyone else experience this?

Try checking your tire pressure.

All things have been taken into consideration, all that left is putting it on a frame machine! The suspension gods say everything is in check! It's been going on for a while and ther isn't even a smidge of uneven tire wear.

Maybe your caliper sticks on that side...do this little experiment - after driving around for awhile get out and feel the wheels of both sides and check to see if one is hotter then the other. If the side it pulls to is hotter then your culprit may be a sticking caliper.

That sounds logical. Do you think that it's weird that it only happens during acceleration? I'll be on a flat stretch of road and I will accelerate, it pulls right. I'll let off the throttle and it settles!....Weird!

Wider tires tend to magnify any torque steer effect. You may not have noticed it before, but your stickier tires tend to go their own way with a little more enthusiasm.

exactly! Well thats what I'm hoping! I just need to know if anyone else has experienced this. I bought my car w/ 7k on it, so I dont know the history before that. I hope it wasn't in an accident and w/ factory rollers on it you couldn't tell.

I believe a sticking caliper would cause the car to drift to one side or the other when traveling at a steady speed on a level road.

Springs may be the cause

When your car accelerates there is a weight shift from front to back. Perhaps one rear spring is weaker than the other. The corner of the car with the weak spring will ride lower. The opposite front corner will ride higher, and this affects steering.

Measure ride height carefully, with no load in the vehicle. The unloaded ride heights should be the same.

Have a person sit in the left rear seat and measure left side ride height. Have the same person sit in the right rear seat and measure right ride height. The loaded ride heights should be the same.

Yes, but would also during decelerating!

some advice....

maybe, if you don't mind the slight hassle, you can swap your original wheels back on, at least just in the front then see if the problem continues, if not, then you can be sure it has to do with the wheels? I dunno if it makes sense just a thought....

Oh yeah, I had this problem when I put 17 X 8 wheels on my car, but it was most likely caused by severly worn tires on 1 rim towards one side and I didn't even have the car aligned after doing this.....

This sounds like my lower control arm bushing issue I had. Check them too...

Dead straight, maybe a hair of torque steer initially.

My bad...I was searching for my post and this thread came up w/in the top 5 on the list...and mine was not even on the page. I assumed it was posted or replied to after mine.

Does searching not default to last post date for sorting like every other board?
